IC2, BC, EE, Forestry, RedPower, Reis Minimap, Somnia, Advanced Machines IC2 addon, Craftguide, Treecapitator, Optifine.

I was getting the same problem with the Technic Pack too, could it be a memory problem? :(

I've had that problem with Technic, but only rarely. There doesn't seem to be any lost data or anything either, so it hasn't struck me as a serious problem.

Has anyone ever had a problem where Minecraft crashes to 'Saving Chunks' then the screen goes black once its saved?

Anyone know a fix? It keeps doing it..

That literally can mean that ANYTHING went wrong.
Any uncaught exception, anywhere, will cause that same result.

It's most likely just some configuration problem, or a mod conflict (or a mod conflict resulting from a configuration problem).

http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Crash has instructions on how to get the details of what caused it. If you can get text that says something like "An unhandled BlahBlargBlurgException has occured...", it should be reasonably easy (extremely easy for people with modding experience) to figure out what is going wrong. I'm going to guess that it is something like a NullPointerException (common in mods if an unusual case is forgotten about, so something thought impossible happens within the code, though good testing usually helps most mods avoid that kind of thing most of the time), or maybe a ClassNotFoundException (missed a prerequisite mod?).

How do you tell whether a mod can be used with the Modloader folder?

How do you tell whether a mod can be used with the Modloader folder?
The other way to tell is to open the zipfile and look for files with names that are only one or two letters long, followed by the extension .class.  E.g. ix.class or s.class.

If there is even one such file, the mod will not work in the MODS subfolder.  It must be merged into minecraft.jar.

Whoa.
Just spawned on an island in the middle of the ocean.
Two trees.
Lava lake.
Abandoned mineshaft below, I could use the water to get there.

Picked up some saplings and wood in a nearby island, planted them on the island I spawned in, then I went to the mineshaft.
I already have over 10 iron.
Then I went to the mineshaft, gathered some string from cobwebs, made a bed, and then a house.
It was nice.

If you don't spawn on the island,
Coords should be

X: 665

Z: 316

Also, I think this only works in 1.8.1.

A page or so back I mentioned my game kept crashing to Saving Chunks running Technic Pack.

Someone mentioned how to get a crash report and I did and it seemed to be MatMos causing it for some reason. I've ran it fine before and it suddenly started doing it. I pressed F7 to disable it and haven't had a crash in 5 minutes so far..

I really wanted to get into this again, but unfortunately I don't know of any pack that has everything that I wanted in one neat package. Chiefly I was interested in the one Forsaken put together, but apparently that was before Forge added support for the 'ore dictionary' so that BC and IC aren't using completely different yet identical ores (would be nice if this was extended to things like rubber, too). The technic pack uses more recent builds of the mods but doesn't have everything forsaken's pack did. On top of this, it looks like I could not easily get support for high res textures no matter what pack I use since the high res patcher won't even try to patch a modded .jar.

Too bad for me, I guess. If I don't want to put in the work to get everything working myself, I guess I don't really want to play it.

OptiFine works for high res textures, and ore dictionary does work for things like rubber.

What mods do you want specifically?
