The latest official one. 1.81, IIRC.

Let's see...I think you spawn on top of a small hill surrounded by (very) deep rivers. If you turn around and start heading southwest, that should be the general direction.
If your fog distance is high enough, you may be able to see them in the sky from quite a ways. It's in the middle of some grassy plains.
Just be careful; there are quite a few pits in the area that you might stumble into.

Just posted it and screens on MCforums and HackForums (minecraft section)

Pjwaffle

PS. I gave you credit!
Aw, it won't let me read the thread  :(
So the spire formed for you too? Interesting...

This thread?

Those're just mountains. Were the spires something else? I panned the crap around and out of that plains and I found no spires.

Skepticism aside, it IS a good seed- villages nearby, mountains being split by valleys, massive ponds, rivers aplenty, etc.
Oh right. I was trying to access the HackForum thread <_<

No, those aren't the spires. I'm guessing I had a chunk error or something, which relocated some columns of stone directly up. Any tips on getting MC to run better on a 32bit Vista?

Is anyone else getting 502s on the forum? The Minecraft one, not B12.

I'm a bit hostile to it now, yes, because the number of times I've had to SAY that is well over a hundred now.
Alright. It would help if there was any way to measure or store buildcraft energy... or control its distribution at all, actually. The whole system seems very inefficient even with the energy pipes.

As it is, there is no way to know these things other than observation, and what I said was based on my observation. You seem to know more about it, so I have a few questions.

I have an array of 60 redstone engines running nonstop right now and have never had an explosion, so I figured they could not or did not explode. I didn't even know you could chain engines together directly, does it transmit all of the power through each engine with no loss?

Does an engine explode if it has too much power through-put or only if the energy isn't being used? For example, could I chain together 5000 redstone engines so long as the last one is dumping power into something?

Will a steam engine under load still eventually explode or only if it's running without work to do?

Does refined fuel in a combustion engine simply last longer than an equal amount of oil or does it output more power?

Does a combustion engine heat up faster or slower when using fuel as opposed to oil?

Is there a maximum speed that a wooden pipe can draw items out of a chest?

Buildcraft really needs a way to measure energy and heat.

What's this I don't even...
Aside from the apparent physics it isn't that bad. Better than all previous attempts.

 (They tried to use multiple cubes for them, good god that looked terrible.)

I haven't seen these previous attempts, but I'll take your word for it. At least these look like they "fit" in the graphical style.

So I don't get IC's whole Voltage system, It seems kinda counter intuitive because IIRC high voltage is what you want for long range energy transfer?

Right now if I understand correctly, I am better of running low voltage wires in parallel?
Except maybe the resistance of the parallel wires adds up?

Assuming fully insulated & no boxes:
tin = max 3; 1 loss per 40; = 83% loss per 100
copper = max 32; 1 loss per 5; = 62% loss per 100
gold = max 128; 1 loss per 2.5; = 31% loss per 100
HV = max 2048; 1 loss per 1; = 5% loss per 100
While you could theoretically create a massive parallel system, the cost would make it not really worth it. Tin is low enough to be cost prohibitive, copper likewise needs so many batboxes as to render it cost prohibitive for long distances. Essentially wires are situational and there is no best wire for all tasks.

Does energy loss exist when a batbox is pouring into another batbox?

I think you forgot the glass fiber cable. But in the end, HV is really the best for everything. Short to long range, it makes everything faster. The only downsides are that it's expensive and you need power transformers to power machines. But I am expecting everyone to have the technic pack, which has EE, which means no resource problems.

Unless it changed in IC2, don't think so. Unless it changed, the current decreases in integer amounts, so if you put batboxes close enough on the wires, you can prevent any loss. Doing so is just prohibitively expensive for high current, long distance transfer.

Oh, and I left out the fiber cables intentionally because they are price prohibitive; I'm assuming they are only using IC2.

I'll play on vanilla once they catch up on all the stuff they were suppose to do and stop releasing broken pre-releases. And then heavily mod that too.
