So yeah, maybe you have all seen this already but I consider THIS to have a high degree of awesome.

I wonder if this would work on a vertical track.  It probably would.

This is my latest work, called Port Forward ( name chosen by the merchant of menace, which also helped building walls and roads)
It is a coastal city with, from left to right,  a storage, a workshop, a shrine to armok built by Maunoir(minecraft name), an inn, a city hall, an embassy, a crane, a warehouse and a marketplace.
While it isn't finished yet, it starts to feel like a real town.

It is built on the N@W server, so any of the people who are white listed there is free to visit anytime, just tell me.
Speaking about that server, tomorrow a new contest should start, which involves building. maybe those who went inactive would be interested in returning.

Its a SMP map... Make an App and see if they will let you in...

you will have to send the application to somebody who is already whitelisted however, because at the moment applications are referral only.
Public applications will reopen after server gets updated, which is after plugins get updated, which is after notch gets a stable version, which may take a while.

I warn you: quality standards are very high, even more than is sane I dare to say, so if you are going to write an application, do your best, and be sure that everything you write is correct.


by the way... that town I have shown is not among the best or biggest things on the server by far. In fact, us people of Hammersong( the B12 nation) are among the worst builders. ( a good part of that is lack of manpower and central planning however , and competition is in some cases really amazing. Maunoir, whoever he is, seems to have a good eye for buildings, but alone he can't do as much as other bigger nations do. I'll see if I can get some screenshots of Necropolis, in my opinion they are the best builders at the moment).
So if you join there will be many great wonders, that will only grow bigger with time.

and if worst comes to worst, I think they are going to release the map after season 2 ends. I can't say I am eagerly waiting for that day however.

It can go any direction other then diagonal including up or down. The only problem with it is getting it back down afterwards. This could be solved by having pistons on both moving sides. This should actually make a very efficient elevator once you get the redstone compacted down some.

   I have a working mock up of the elevator using the monorail. It can go up or down with the flick of a switch. If I could get a good timer set for the right amount of time I might even be able to make it so you don't have to shut it off afterwards. As it is though if you leave it on then the piston on either the very top or bottom will continuously turn on and off. My mock up only goes up or down a floor* at the moment and I don't know if it will be extendable too much beyond that without a more complex redstone setup.
   Pictures to come including  my easier to understand horizontal set up that I did first to figure out the redstone.



*floor being defined as being a four blocks high with three blocks of space because I like to jump in my house and the roof/floor
