I was working on a structure of reasonable height when I saw an Enderman. "I'm like twenty blocks up!" I thought. "There's no way he'll be able to get up here!" So I looked at him and watched him derp around trying to get to me. He teleported underneath where I was, then appeared about halfway up the wall and took some falling damage. I laughed. Then he 'ported up next to me and knocked me off the tower to my death.

Loving 1.8 so far. :D

Yeah, Endermen start out looking like a scary joke monster or something, but you learn REALLY quick not to piss them off.

My awesome 1.8 game on a super sweet floating island came to an end when an Enderman took advantage of a lava spill and destroyed all my inventory.  Jerk.

I think that to have the most fun in 1.8, you should carry around as many ladders as torches.

So do endermen actually place blocks? Do they build anything interesting? Or just random placement?

Oh god, Smooth Stone Bricks looks so nice. I am loving it.

Out of curiosity, has anyone made a Creative-to-Survival and vise-versa mod yet?

If you find blocks oddly placed in a cave, it's likely to be enderman.

They also build 3 block-long lines, 3x3 stairs floppped on their side, and possibly 2x2 squares.

At least, as far as I can tell.
I've also seen an enderman put his block down, as well as heard what must have been enderman placing blocks. (and found the evidence)

I hope there will be a variant of endermen that mimic's your buildings the best way possible.
Also hardcore difficulty should mean Endermen capable of taking and placing unnatural blocks.. Damn whiner kids ruined it for me.

Wut.  They were moving around wooden planks in my world.
I'd say those aren't entirely natural.

Would this be of any relevance to you?
I gather from a quick read that you have to go to his video for the download link.

Uh. Anyways. Does anyone else seem to be seeing issues with Minecraft eating RAM? After ten minutes, it's up to 600MB and it just keeps climbing.

I'm pretty sure RAM is safe from those elves, as he's logged on today. Oh, wait. You mean computers.

So I just started playing this game and I accidentally nuked the moon.

Not RAM, but my friend has brought my server to it's knees more than once by simply dying and dropping 12000+ exp orbs all over.  Even with that, I haven't seen the memory peak out at all.

I hate to ask the simple questions, but are you using Java 32 on a 64-bit OS?

Andir, was that on 1.8 pre-1 or pre-2? I'm sure I read somewhere that it was fixed for pre-2.

It may have been.  I haven't had time to load up 2 yet.

I do too. I really do. Too bad all my screenshots are on the computer that can actually run Minecraft. :(
