My understanding is that there will be exactly two light colors.  A bluish tinted light which is predominantly from outside, and a yellow/orange tinted light which is predominantly from fire.

This is because of the implementation.  The light grid has been twinned.  There are now two light grids, one for each type of light.

Adding more tints would require either adding another grid for each tint, or a rework that does the light propagation more cleverly.

Interestingly, this may open up the possibility of having more than 16 states for a block.  (Here I'm referring to colors or orientation of a block.).  I believe that light levels used to share a byte with the states.  Now, probably, light levels have an entire byte to themselves, at 4 bits per light type.  This in turn might mean that there are 4 unused bits in the state byte.

Disclaimer: It's been around six months since I looked at the way maps are stored on disk, and I've never looked at how they're allocated in memory.  So take all this with a grain of salt.

We are going to have to change the name of the popular game around here to "Literal Crime Squad."  ;D

Speaking of updates, 1.7 might be out. Patch notes are up, anyways.

Apparently it has sheep shears. No more punching sheep.

 - pistons crash when pushing stuff with states (i.e. redstone stuff, water, etc.)

Apparently right clicking sheep will crash the game.

Haven't tried it myself, but that's what I've heard.
Huh, I sheared sheep just fine.
