awwww, so no cool mapping mods or anything?

Well, MinecraftAutoMap is a nice utility I like to use. It's 2D, but it works better than you'd think and has a trail feature that marks where you've been so you can easily get in and out of caves.

Notch has confirmed that he is making some sort of Sky dimension on his Twitter.

I've seen a couple screenshots, they're what I assume concept shots, but it looks damn nice.

I rather like the "Sphere world" distortion shader. It twists the world to make the horizon much closer.

I'd like to see one that makes blocks stretch out as they get more distant too.

Where can I see these concept shots?

I didn't explain too well, here's the 'full' story.

Notch decided to edit the terrain gen a bit to see if he could make floating islands. He succeeded.

He then posted that he made floating islands in twitter, and then everybody asked him to show us pictures, which in turn made PCGamer make a blog post about how Notch was making a new dimension even though he wasn't.

Basically, through word being spread around of it, Notch is now forced to make a Aether dimension.

And no, the height limit will remain the same, it will be a separate dimension.

In my game, the thing I like to do most is adventuring, and my hugeass cavern is facilitating this activity quite nicely.

So, the main aperture of my HA Cavern is suddenly overrun by monsters randomly, despite being nearly completely lit up and I never knew why. Another search of the area revealed a long vertical shaft in the ceiling that I never noticed before simply because it was so dark.

Building a spiral staircase up it, zombies rain down on me, but I am prepared and deal with them deftly. Then, when I get to the top, I clear away a block to see better, and there's a creeper, not moving, only about 3 feet away. We make eye contact, and the world stands still. I'm apprehensive, our indecisiveness painting the mood. The creeper stands there, doing nothing, only keeping eye contact. I want to say something, but refrain. Then my better judgment takes over and I leap down the tunnel as he explodes. It was a firey affair.

I finally make my way up, and I exclaim "SO MUCH ADVENTURE!" as I find a completely new part of the cavern, heavily monster ridden and iron ore laden series of sections punctuated with a sandstone ceiling. I'm probably not that far from the surface.

Set a tnt under the sandstone and wait for a monster swarm. Crash the land upon them.

This was done way back in Indev.

 The indev and creative terrain generators were incompatible with survival infinite terrain.

 It also looks a bit better, with long continents instead of a bunch of vertical islands that cause all lower islands to be dark bastions of evil.

 It also seems Notch for the first time in months had a chance to relax and not worry about a company and stuff. He's back to spending nights just going crazy and adding a ton of content. It appears the wild grass mod is going in too.

Does anybody know where I can find all the files with Industrial Craft and ModLoader pre-installed? I can't get it to work at all, and I had a link earlier but it was in a text so the last few digits on the media fire download may have been wrong.

Nope. Distributing the .jar is illegal. However, I think a patcher would work. The question is, where would one find a patcher for an incomplete set of IC mods?
