I was burning wood, but it took a long time to do so. I'm trying to pull off a cool squidbillies reference and dye all of my wool yellow and draw pacman on the side of the mountain.

My Mega Cavern is turning out some nice goodies for me. I found a little vein of diamond, scoring me enough to make a diamond pick, then I find obsidian! I haven't gotten around to actually mining that stuff, but I'll get to it. I also have tons and tons of redstone, and my friend hates me cause he can't find any.

For navigation around my Mega Cave, I use signs. Many signs, pointing me in every conceivable direction, which is oddly gratifying to do since there are so many forks and passages to be labeled, and the placing of the sign signifies my conquest over that small section.

I keep a crafting table, two chests, a furnace, and a bed in my Mega Cave, because I fully intend on making it my home, so I might as well start moving now. For my eventual shut-off from the outside world altogether, I'm trying my hand at making an underground tree farm. If that's successful, then I'll try growing food.

The only thing I depend on the surface world for is feathers, which I need for arrows. IF ONLY I could create a chicken coop and mass produce the little dirty birds!

Creepers spawn much more frequently than zombies for me, and each creeper eats about 5 arrows, so it's not a reliable enough source for my needs, unfortunately.

Hence, mobfarm. Either farm vast numbers of mobs using drowning traps, or find a zombie spawner in a dungeon.

A dark room full of cacti always works.

But you lose a large amount of the stuff to the cacti themselves. Not to mention how hard  it is to safely navigate.
