Fun fact- You can generate a world normally, save, install Biospheres, and continue to generate Biospheres. This way, you'll have a large blob of normal looking land, with biospheres branching off of it. They don't always generate nicely from it, but it's one way to give yourself solid ground in a world of floating balls.

Plus, you can use the walls where the generator changes in the event that you ever wanted to make a cliffside abode facing out towards the abyss.

The only issue this has is that it breaks some biomes on the original landmass. Not sure how this affects everything else, though.

Omg, this method could be abused in so many ways  :D

Since I'm too lazy to install it, what does Biosphere Nether look like?

Is there a mod where I can edit a map from outside the game?
I don't have the time or patience to dig down to bedrock.

Yes, I think MCEdit does that, I'll dig up a link.

It edits the normal world terrain generator, so presumably he didn't touch the Nether generator.

I would bet money Andrew has edited things retroactively, except I can't prove anything because it was edited retroactively.

Wait..... NO DIAMONDS?!?!?!

Edited:
Biosphere has diamonds.  They're just, y'know, inside and on the surface of an obsidian sphere a ball of perfectly normal rock.  Rather a chicken-and-egg ham-and-eggs situation.

Or do you mean my proposed diamonds-to-uranium?  I was thinking of only changing 25% or so, not all.

Edit: huh.  I sure thought I was modifying my post, not quoting it into a new one.  Oops.  Sry4Zdblpost!

In other news, the Death Chest mod and just a bit of cleverness lets you build up out of the void, removing the can't-build-down problem.  It's a bit too exploitative for me to use in an actual game.

It's slightly too extreme for me, but it seems like a very nice mod

You can get through obsidian by punching it; you only need a diamond pickaxe if you want the obsidian.

No, obsidian can only be gotten via diamond picks. Even iron doesn't break it.

Wrong. You can break it with anything, it just 1> takes forever and 2> doesn't give you the obsidian. So you can get to the diamonds.

I thought we established that they were not obsidian moons, just normal rock?

Obsidian is magma-generation holes.

Minecraft is acting strange. It's not showing all the chunks I can see and the transition from day to night and vice versa is not immediate.
It's not a bad thing, because now I can play Minecraft with smooth lighting, wild grass, and fancy graphics(if it wasn't so weird) with a cool 18 fps.
