I downloaded a texture pack, patched it with Xau (or something like that) patcher and now I can't change it back.... I removed the file from the texture pack folder but for some reason it's still using the texture pack.

Anyone have any idea on how to fix this?

Just delete the version file from your minecraft directory, it'll force a reinstall. The reason it's not gone is because you used that patcher - that replaced the texture files in the .jar, which modifies the default texture of minecraft as seen in the texture pack folder, rather than loading a texture pack from the folder.

You could also Unpatch it. It may seem like it doesn't do anything when you press it, but it does revert Minecraft back to it's default texture.

Thx, also, it seems that the water was messed with and you have to make a + shape to get an infinite water source now.

If you use the new beta patcher (not sure if it works with 1.5, personally, because I won't be updating for a while, but if the old one does, I'm sure it does), it loads all files from the texture pack folder, so there's no reason to inject the textures anymore.

Did anybody else notice that creepers got griefier in a beta update? I used to think I could kill them with a sword and they wouldn't usually explode but when they did explode they would be close enough to do at least a few hearts unarmored damage. Now I can't kill them with a sword because they always blow up and destroy the landscape and are only close enough to do half a heart unarmored damage. I'll still fight them with a sword after I've lured them into water but they'll kill themselves in a BOOM.

Why would you need a seed for that? Wouldn't you just use a memory editor?

Just generated an awesome new world.  Waterfalls, LAVAfalls, gigantic mountains, and wicked cool cliffs and caves.  The seed: "Paradise City"

I got a new computer a while ago, with one of the best common-market graphics cards I could afford.  Judging by how fast the fan spins, it appears to actually cope better with far draw distance than near.  But sometimes, I'll be trucking along, and Minecraft will just crash to a black screen, with or without any modding.  There doesn't appear to be any particular set of conditions that make it crash, or time spent, it's just random.  And a little inconvenient.

Try pressing the "Force Update" button on the launcher to reinstall Minecraft. I used to have the same problem, and a reinstall fixed it for me.

I forced an update, but it still happens almost immediately.  However, I also noticed that my graphics card isn't spooling up its fan.  Weird.  I guess I'll have to reboot.
