Oh no, I have a cave. I even have 3 natural diamonds. I now need to get all of the energy produced and stuff.
I'm trying to use a water wheel, but its having no part in this.

Waterwheel I would turn down. Solar panels and MFE's all the way.
Leave one connected to an MFE for a few days, let the batteries charge, then get to work.

Don't listen to the lies. Hydroelectric power pillar all the way. It'll take you ages to make enough solar panels to be worth a damn, and you'll have to make a bed to avoid the night being useless.

True, hydroelectric power pillars work greatly. and with a bit of engineering, they are good looking too!
( a few pages back there should be some screenshots of my plant if you want)

NUCLEAR POWAH all the way. And its dangeruosly fun :D
Also usefull for making fuel rods for nukes (better economy)

You know the original uranium clumps yield twice as many nukes, right?

doesn't an uranium clump generate several rods?

I always thought it was on rod per clump, and 2 nukes per 5 clumps if crafted.
And one rod would give 1 nuke for every 5. :P

Hmmm...
I do actually have a piece of uranium..

But I really don't have any clue on what I can do..

One clump to four bars
Edit: but nukes are not as fun just lots of tnt. Maybe a blasting laser (horizontal miner laser building) that would require sh*t loads of energy (begging for a nuclear reactor) would be more fun.
Edit2: Ochita: not much- putting it into nuclear reactor makes four fuel bars which later could be put back into reactor to make a lot of energy. Or you could try to discover nuke recipe (i think its supposed to be secret). Hint: you need more than one piece :)

What are those blocks needed for a compressor? Because I can't do much more without one.

 Smoothstone? Cook some cobble.

I kinda wish I had some way to automate the geothermal reactor and the fuel can one, anything involving buckets is just tedious. And why don't we get the fuel container back from using it? Do I just throw in the tin can with the fuel?

You could use miner with extractor pipe. Not only it gives free buckets but also five lava for one block as far as I understand.
Edit: i'm wrong apparently:

As well, liquids can only be stored in empty buckets, located in chests placed next to a miner.

also, having to run up and down to feed the miner and harvest the magma is not automated, not by any definition of the word.

I think he meant like the watermill, which generates power from nearby water tiles.

Bio-fuel's probably the easiest way to get quick energy, once you get a little established anyway. Bamboo farm and it's almost entirely renewable.

Now that I've discovered the terraformer in the industrial craft mod, I want to take a terraformer, a lot of dirt, some extraction pipe, a bunch of buckets, some cable, and a geothermal generator into the nether.

Make a wide flat area of dirt, plop down the terraformer, run a wire to it underground and connect to a geothermal generator, probably through an MDU to buffer the power, then use miner/extraction pipe to efficiently extract magma into buckets for power. I wonder if it would force grass and trees to grow, as well as flowers.

My testing in the real world resulted in a flower filled oasis in the middle of a desert.

and now i know what i'll be doing next time i play...
