Did you try to install any mods?
Did you try to install any texturepacks, especially HD ones?

Oh, just find the .minecraft folder, open it, highlight the bin folder, F2, name it bin-JUNK.  Then download the newest Minecraft.exe, and run it.  If that doesn't help, do the same thing for the resources folder.  And don't install mods or packs.

If you can give us an error log, you can get better help, including help with mods or packs.

1) Spawner GUI is the mobspawner changing GUI
2) "Ingame Invedit", the mod you were attempting to reference, is created by the GUI API guy, and is not updated.

Too Many Items is far superior.
