AutoID looks like it'd be awesome.
It automatically changes block IDs if they share one. It even edits any config, should they have one. It doesn't work for items, though.

*excellent story*
Any other news on this would be great, seeing as there doesn't seem to be anybody else chronicling it.
I know this makes me look like an elitist prick, but you'll have to check the Penny Arcade forums for the information. There is a strict policy on that. It should be in the first three posts of the Minecraft thread in the Games and Tech forum.

Alright, thanks. I only asked here because I am abysmally horrible at searching for things, but I've managed to find the site.

If I download the industrial mod, will I

1) have to use the default texture pack

2) have to create a new world?

2) have to create a new world?
I would say yes, seeing as it adds minerals it would have to generate. Unless you make the game generate new terrain, or hack in resources.

I would bet money Andrew has edited things retroactively, except I can't prove anything because it was edited retroactively.

1) have to use the default texture pack
Nope.

However, unless you make custom textures for some things, they might not mesh well with your current tileset.
This is, of course, a mixed blessing because it makes the new ores easier to spot, being a completely different texture and colour.

Any new chunks generated will have the new resources, but you'd have to run around a bit to find them.

This modpack has a mod that will redistribute ores on your map, so if you want to use the new ores on an old map, go for it.

Tested it and adding more power doesn't make the Macerator work faster, I assume it's the same for all machines. I guess no Tim Taylor Tech for me.

Ok, having power with IndustrialCraft power... I understand MFE's take power from the side and distribute it top/bottom  (have not installed the update which adds a configuration tool.)

Anyway... thought I had power nailed using the flower solars (well, one arm of it) and I decided to make a reactor to see what it does.

I put in my Uran and it process to fuel rods and I can use the rods to power it up as well.  But I'm getting 0 power from it.  I have wires connected to the back (should they be on the bottom?) and it's running through 5 wares to an MFE, intot he side.  Out the top of the MFE I run another cable to the next MFE (5 wires between these) ... The MFE connected straight to the nuke is sitting at 20 power.  It's not oscillating like the others, and it's not filling up the MFE it's connected to (which is in charge mode with a switch next to it)

Edit: it seems you can't refine Uran while generating power.  I thought the page thread said you can, but maybe it was his stupid "HAYO" crap that got in the way of making comprehend-able instructions.

Now to figure out why my Recycler stopped working... /sigh.

How do you adjust MFE output?

The best update to IndustrialCraft would be a simple, non-advertising version that simply describes what does what.
