Ye gods.  I didn't think reactor failure was quite this troubling.

Heh that's EXACTLY why my reactor is so far from my main base.  All I'll lose is a little bit of glass, come cabling, a MFE and a small chest with half my uranium.

It's also out under the ocean.  So if it goes I might even get a cool little hole in the ocean to watch sharks fall into.

Here is what I have so far of my mega platform.

Main entrance to the stairwell, which leads up to the platform.



This is the hall under that entrance, that heads to the main stairwell. I used netherrack as a light source instead of torches. I feel it gives a cleaner look.


The stairwell up to the platform, look down on my main entrance, solar flower, and mining area.


To center case of stairs leads to the platform, and the outer two lead into the portal room.


Portal room, did not set up the 'exit' yet so it spawned one for me not far from the platform on a beach.


Freshly made fountain, forgot to get an above view picture of it. It has four water sources, and four basins the water runs into. I may make a large waterfall coming down from it all. I have four blocks of netherrack burning to provide light.

I like to call this my Grass Transfer Unit. Works slowly, but I want grass up here, dirt makes it look like crap.

Well, meant for people with slower internet, I had to deal with near dial-up speeds for a year or so and I was quite happy when people put images in a spoiler.

This has not broken my sanity yet, I mean considering all, it was quite easy. Just takes a LOT of materials.

Next project will be something that will take a lot of planning and plotting of the land, laying a foundation, etc.

Do they? Maybe it was a placebo effect for me, oh well. Guess they can easily be skipped over then if someone does not want to see them.

You DO know grass can go up two blocks at a time, halving the needed time, right?

Out of curiousity, I used the seed "Minecraft" I was kinda sad when I spawned in a snow biome with no trees. Luckily, a bit of exploring found a very low overhang near some trees. The overhang is just high enough for me to fit into it.

Was reading it can go up to three space away, I was just being as safe as possible I guess. A bit of trying to make sure it would work.

According to wiki it can grown down 3 tiles or grow up 1 tile:

Grass can also spread to blocks one level above or three levels below the source block, even if the grass/dirt blocks are hovering in the air with nothing else directly touching them. It travels downwards much faster than it does upwards, and the more grass blocks that are in range of a given dirt block, the faster it will spread there.

So, I've been playing around with the Ruins Mod lately.
The mod just affects world generation by reading text files in the resources￥ruins, so it's completely moddable.
