Ugh. I'd love to go exploring and make a base miles from spawn, but the fact you cant change your spawn point yet kind of ruins that for me.

I think you can if you go into the code, maybe look it up on google or ask on the minecraft forums. But that is why I am building an oversized minecart system all the way to my original base XD.

I also have a habit of just not dieing. I don't think I have died once in this world.

Allegedly, in the next version, or the one after the next, you will be able to set your bed as your spawn point.

But what if the cause of death was sleeping in an unlit room?

I wonder if the spawn persists if the bed ceases existing. That would solve being ambushed by a creeper...

Although an annoying form of griefing would be going around punching people's beds to reset their spawn point, if that were the case.

I once flooded my spawn point with magma in single player.

really, the danger is the same either way.

On a blog post, Notch claimed that the current real hard limit on the size of a Minecraft map is currently roughly twenty five percent of the distance from the earth to the sun, or 37,399,500 kilometers in a given direction, but physics start breaking down long before you reach that point.

Actual game glitches, or just "there's no way a planet could be this huge!"?

There was a video of someone actually going to the edge of the map and finding some VERY strange landforms.  Apparently the algorithm starts to break down the closer you get to the edges.

Game glitches. Chunks overwrite each other, items and blocks start acting funny, etc.

That's actually really awesome. Especially in that he didn't plan for it to happen.

More than that. Due to rounding errors, you could end up falling through solid blocks, or getting stuck against smooth walls.

...what.

Filming, editing, soundmixing, travel costs, and so forth.

By the way, 150k is on the cheap side of producing a documentary.
