With the recent soft lighting update, Minecraft has become nigh-unplayable for me. Even with FPS limit on, soft light off, and render at tiny, it lags like mad and is totally unplayable.

Note that it ran smooth as butter /before/ the smooth lighting update, and only lagged when there were connection issues.

Wait a couple minutes or so before moving. It's caching a loooot of chunks now and they take a while to load. You can press F3 to check, red lines mean chunk loading/changes.

Irrc you can disable smooth lighting.
