These seeds don't reproduce by the way...

They do... But the spawn is completely random.

I wonder if the terrain generator was at least somewhat updated for 1.3 to give more of a possibility or likelihood for truly bizarre terrain, or now that we have the seed functionality, it's just more noticable.

I myself am waiting for that one seed that gives a full 128 Z-level spire of diamond ore, much like the wonderful DF bug. You know it'll happen eventually.

 I think it was updated to allow more Lapis generation and the sandstone stuff, so who knows. They always sneak in some other change.

Huh, well then,

one of my spawns for notch landed square on a mob spawner covered with sand.
above it, of course.

dwarf fortress ? fortress? landed in a hilly area, with a fairly nice sandwich between two hills, at a corner of a hilly forested area.

crazy landed in a very hilly area, a sort  of fjord with beaches, save that there could have been more ocean-aligned trees. crazy also had this incredibly weird cave-section, opening the ground to the sun in an odd way, exposing several caves in a single slice.
Also, caves scattered consistently around, with most hills being grass, and sandy coastline

 Not too much interesting near the spawn. Scattered, odd terrain features defy gravity.
I spawned right near a tall object resembling a flag : O

Not much for ocean near my spawn, but I spotted a really nice overhang near the ocean, looking like this:

Yes, actually. It's a small cove at the base of a steep hill, overlooking a bay with some pyramid-like hills on the other side.

Totally found a cliff face that looks like an open invitation.
literally looking a like a 2-tall doorway prototype in a cliff face that would expand easily.

water even leads to the doorway prototype.
Sadly, I don't have the coords.

I am going to take one of the best of these overhangs/skybridges, build a huge, lit vertical shaft down to the ground when nothing but stone, ladders, torches and a door, and make that my improbable Minecraft home.

I dare a monster to spawn as I sleep in that.

And it is waaaay harder then I thought. Dam creepers got my house multiple times. Now I have a lookout point so they will never be able to do so again.

Best spot, a steep mountian with 3 lavafalls coming out around it pouring into the ground and 3 mini sky bridges. So much fun
