Seed: "Aqizzar" produces a mundane if nicely rugged and wooded coastline, around the starting point.  Not that impressive, but I haven't explored much.

Is anyone else having absolutely atrocious framerate problems?  Even with the new lighting engine off, the game crawls when generating and loading cells, and even once it's done, skips and stutters while moving.  I'll never understand how every single content update can put performance down the toilet, then the next week of updates are just getting it back out.

Someone mentioned earlier that browser worked better than client for them. Have you tried that?

Same here. Actually, I got the new launcher, and it improved even more. Huh!
Also:
-Found "THE CAVE" in -11.
-Since everyone's doing it, "freeformschooler" is a vast glacial non-wasteland with lots of sand, snow and pools of water mostly covered in ice.

The Glacier map is freaking Pandora, at least around the starting point. There's a giant floating island with a waterfall flowing out of it that serves perfectly as an elevator. If this wasn't crashing so much, I'd have a lot of fun with it.

Cheese makes a desert next to a big lake/ocean and some green plains with big 10x10 tower-hill things.

Wow, cloud piercing landtowers and huge caverns.

"Notch" gives a really flat area with low floating islands and some desert.
"Mojang" is sand, sand and more sand.

"Toady One" makes a big hilly desert area.
"ThreeToe" is fuckhuge spire-mountains on an island chain.

I'll have to check out this Glacier place.

I think we need more above ground terrain types to make the terrain generator more interesting, now.

If only Dwarf Fortress had random worlds based on seed generation...

Possibly a side effect of running fast graphics mode, where leaves become solid blocks. (I can't recall if they're always solid enough to place things on, I don't think so...)

You can place blocks anywhere, mostly.  I think he was pointing out that the world genned that way.

Although, it's more like randomly generated floating dirt with a tree that grew under it.
