Redstone really needs a dedicated blocks for some things... like an inverter and a booster so you don't have to wrap your head around those torch configurations.

For SMP there's Craftbook.

I bet there's some nifty mods too.

I'd love to play on a DF-themed minecraft server. Or a sky city server based on this awesome story on the minecraft forums:  http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=1016&t=89335

You really should get it before the 20th and snag an Alpha Account if at all possible.
Of Dec? If thats the case I don't think I'll be having an Alpha Account.

Of December, yes. You really, really should. Beta Accounts are most likely going to have to pay more in the future.

What? You want it to be easier? What kind of dwarf are you? Pff...
Inverters are ridiculously easy.

I prefer the second setup because you need less redstone. You just connect redstone dust to a block and put a torch at another side of the block, either on top of the block or to the side of it. If it's to the side, you need to connect the torch to the block.

And a booster has nothing to do with redstone circuits. You can make a minecart booster without a single redstone dust.

Oh sure, there are very complicated gates, like ones where you can actually store information. Like, you press a button and even when the button gets deactivated again, there's still an "ON" signal stored somewhere, i.e. sequential logic. I really don't understand how those work. But normal minecart tracks with multiple stations really only need inverters or maybe an AND or OR gate.

Edit: Actually, the most basic memory setup is pretty easy to understand. All you need to know is how inverters work which is not that hard.
Adders, however, are annoyingly difficult to understand.

I would like dedicated blocks so it doesn't waste space. That's pretty much it.

Integrated Circuits from Craftbook may help there if you're talking about Jaycraft.

They're actually a lot simpler than they look. A half-adder is only two logic gates. It's only when you factor in carrying that things get complicated...

Projects can never be difficult or giant enough. It would also make it way too easy and much less interesting. If everyone could build a 4-bit adder, what's the accomplishment in doing so?

Building a 16-bit adder?

Also, why are we measuring e-peen now?

It's not about bragging to other people. It's simply about getting it to work. Hell, you don't even need to tell other people. For me, making it work is enough of an accomplishment. If it's too easy, there's no challenge. It's simple, really.

If it's not about e-peen contests, then even if there's a dedicated block for it you can simply choose to not use it.
