Hey, I've been building this mega-construction, and I was wondering... Is there any form of scaffolding that works for really high up construction?

Spoiler: Like, this tall: (click to show/hide)

I've just been sick of falling down, dying, and having to grab my stuff again.

Sand or gravel is a common choice. It's cheap, can be built from either top down or bottom up, and when you wanna get rid of it, knock out the bottom block and place a torch there quickly. If you do it right, every block in the stack will be destroyed.

That said, for really tall constructions, I'd just say your best bet would be individual dirt blocks, floating in a grid about 3 blocks apart. On top of each one, place a water spring. Then, if you fall, you'll always land in the water.

edit;

e.g.

Code: [Select]
#############   <---- construction
      #
      #
      #  /~\ /~\ /~\     <---- water
      #  |#| |#| |#|    <---- dirtblocks
      #  | | | | | |
      #  | | | | | |     <--- falling water
      #  | | | | | |

Or you could just stash anything you don't need in a chest, and build like a man dwarf.

It's worth every penny, trust me.

Besides, buying it later is foolish; it's already highly playable and popular, and when it enters the Beta phase (which is very soon) it's just go up in price.

Why is it ridiculous?  Classic and Alpha are two entirely different games.

How so? I'm entirely willing to listen to your opinions, but please back your statements with something lest you be taken for a troll.

Because it is an alpha version. It is an incomplete game.

I shall bring you an automobile and charge you full price, but this vehicle shall be missing its outer paneling, have no air conditioning, and the windshield wipers work only when it is not raining.

This vehicle will still run, and you can drive it around, so you should pay full price.
