That happened to my friend once, it was very freaky, red skies, and some screwy landscape while everything else looked normal
That sounds pretty awesome.

You can easily replicate Hell on Earth by using the biome mod or a few of the server mods. Switch one variable and you've got nether mixed or instead of normal world.

Here I go. Caution, there are plenty of them (by mean of plenty, I mean alot). I'll try to divide them at least by deck or relevance:

-Cool Pictures-

And that's just about it. I'll see what I can do about uploading the ship as a schematic (MCEdit). I'll clean it up a bit more first. BTW, how would you like it uploaded? With the land bridge already connected, or without? I'll also see if I can retract all bridges and make it completely stand-alone as well. You know what? I'll just make all variations as best I could, pack it up, and upload it. What would be the best place to upload it? I mean more for relevance, because I'm uncertain of using DFFD (though relevant to the source) to distribute something Minecrafted-ish.

EDIT:
All images should be full-scale now. As for the schematic, I'm going to take a bit of a break before I do that. Plus, I still need a good site to upload the pack/save to.
Nice!

Now let's see it ON FIRE.

EDIT:  Am I breaking the world generator, or forcing it to be awesome?

@Jay: That is pure awesomeness. Did you use any of the terrain mods or smth? Perhaps you could upload a save?

If you're not that interested int he fact that this was vanilla, there's several mods for minecraft that allow you to create some crazy worlds.

I'd be interested in that so long as you can modify the ore levels, as not finding anything rarer than coal up there would be a shame.

What texture pack is that?
A little 128x128 smörgåsbord of various textures that I made myself.  Are you really that interested in it?  I could upload it...
this was vanilla
Sorry, but no.

I'm still playing around with it.
There were zero trees in both worlds as far as I could reach, so I'm working on a midrange where it's actually playable.
I want to see what you guys can come up with.  Either continue clogging this thread or PM me.  :V

I love the biome mod, overly large biomes ftw!
Mine are around 30 thousand squares each.

Edit:
Scratch that, it's working, and it's awesome :D
Edit Edit:
And i think whats causin your lack of trees Jay was the Biometrees setting, i set it to true and i have plenty of wood, and some of it looks very wierd:
