Generally when you post a screenshot with a caption like that, there is a reason.

i don't get it...
There's sand. Below solid rock.

Or perhaps it should be: There's solid rock. Above sand.

There isn't really, it's just a trick of the eye... the sand that seems below is accually beside the rock 'pillar'.

He's said it a few times on his blog and Twitter.  F1 + F2 removes the interface, so both are useful.

So my crundles are staying intact unless they're newly spawned... until they are exposed to anything that isn't at room temperature.  This mostly seems to mean blood, specifically, their own.  Then they go poof very quickly.

F1 removes the GUI.  That was mentioned as you said.
F2 actually takes a screenshot and stores it in the .minecraft folder.
That was never documented as far as I've seen.

Mentioning something on a blog is NOT documentation.

Blogs are noise.

Depends - last I checked, Minecraft doesn't have a manual or even a readme. All updates are posted to his blog, re-posted on the forums, and occasionally mentioned on Twitter; and, of those 3 sources, I'd say the blog is probably closest to actual documentation.  ;D

I have never looked at any of those sources. The most I've done is look at the wiki for crafting.
