Yeah, that'll be fun. First priority is obviously to find some trees. Next is to hope that Notch doesn't implement freezing to death.

I was building a fancy wall in SP.  I had a magmamoat and a modest 10 block high wall around my fortress.

I was up top of the wall at night placing a fence to serve as a fortification.  I had mostly diamond armor, a diamond sword a bow and a good supply of arrows.  Then I heard a twang from behind me.

A skeleton had spawned in the darkness underneath my lighthouse.  I had turned around just in time to see it.  The arrow hit me, doing next to no damage.  However the arrow knocked me off the wall, I thought, pfft just a short fall, won't do much damage and I'll just go around to the entrance, mess that skelly up and place a few brimstone fires at the base of the lighthouse.

Another twang, this time from the trees, still trying to get my bearings after the fall I was unprepared and got hit in the back...knocking me straight into my lava moat.  I died in seconds and lost it all.

Damn skellies are getting smarter.

Mercy? From the man who invented Creepers?! Good luck with that.

Ah, but death by freezing can only occur in frozen biomes. Creepers can happen anywhere.
Death by freezing is slow. Death by Creeper is... not.

Whatever Notch does next to inflict death upon unsuspecting users, I'm certain it'll be a lot faster and more violent than mere hypothermia.  ;)

I would bet money Andrew has edited things retroactively, except I can't prove anything because it was edited retroactively.

Violent Hypothermia?
Yes, violent, explosive hypothermia that then revives your corpse as a ice monster made of frozen blood.

You're in a freezing biome for too long and suddenly, without warning, ice shards erupt from your body? Or more along the lines of the yeti from SkiFree? *Vwoosh! Om nom nom nom nom.*

Edit: Also, ninjad, but I like my SkiFree yeti idea so... yeah.

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

Apparently, there's a texture pack contest.

The best submission will not only receive a 180 GB OCZ Vertex 2 E SSD signed by Notch, which also comes preloaded with Minecraft (a pretty big deal), but also a signed painting by Kristoffer Zetterstrand, estimated retail value 25000 SEK (3700 US$).
Wait, what?

Am I the only one who is completely confounded by this?
The game is 60 megabytes, including the music and such.  How is that even...  What?
Beyond that, how in the /hell/ does that mean anything to someone who would have to already own, have downloaded, and play the game in order to make a texture pack to win the contest in the first place?
