I see no reason why it would be. It'd just be another redstone.

It would be useful to have another type of redstone. One that is a different colour and which doesn't interact directly with the current redstone except through a special craftable block. This way you'd be able to lay them side by side making lots of machines much smaller.

Yes, yes it does. Just buy the game, it's only thirteen dollars/ten euros.

Pretty much the only use for it I can think of is making some logic gates simpler and being able to do things like this.

Message Notch and beg? It sounds like there isn't much you can do at this point, but I'm sure you can get it fixed sooner or later.

A creeper exploded near me and a cow. I succesfully avoided the blast, but the cow was caught in it, killing it instantly and he was sent flying for several meters, leaving the leather behind.

I laughed. :D

You know, I think creepers are a pretty good explanation for how the landscape forms without any rainfall. Creepers are, in fact, erosion.
I know this because the landscape outside my long-standing base is quite different from when I built the base in question, and it wasn't changed by me. God I hate creepers.

This is probably a silly question, but how do folks make floodgate like devices that hold back liquids and let them through at the flip of a switch?  It seems to be talked about quite a bit but I can't seem to figure it out...

Only a recent mod can do that. Check out the modding section of the Minecraft Forums, the last bastion of awesome.
