So, I grabbed my hacked in gear (in this case, just some obsidian and a flint), and set off running from the inferno surrounded gate (also, fire doesn't set you on fire anymore, I ran through ghast-fire, and just now torched myself with a flint, and just got a damage tic, without the damage over time part). I ran I don't know how far before I made a new gate, hopped through, and immediately paused to let it save the map, on unpausing and stepping out of the gate to look around, minecraft crashed. So it would appear that it creating a normalspace gate to link to a one in hell destabilizes minecraft... :-\

It just hit me that Notch has supposidly put in fishing, and not one of us has gone looking for that. I'll deliver a report on that soon.

I noticed something, the yellow stuff takes some time to mine even with a diamond pick. That stuff must be freaking tough and rare material. I am intrigued. Is there possibly something harder than diamonds we can use?

Actually, you can mine it in the no time with just your fists.
Yeah, just noticed it on my return as a test.

I have yet to figure out what gold dust is for. I have adequate samples (min. 9), and still; can't figure it out.

Just put 9 together and you'll make a block of that stuff and it glows. If you break it again though you'll only get one. Only real use is that it can provide light underwater.

Fishing is simple. Make a rod, cast into a lake and pull out a fish, then cook it. Little less health than cooked pork. Probably the best option for players in desert.

I'm pretty sure the 6th block you're looking for is the lit pumpkin, which is extremely disappointing. I thought there were going to be 6 hell blocks.

Right-click with fishing pole to unleash the line. If it's in water wait 'till it bobs and right-click to send a fish flying your way.

I would bet money Andrew has edited things retroactively, except I can't prove anything because it was edited retroactively.

You can also hook cows/other animals and drag them towards you.
Quite fun.

Alright, so apparently the Zombie Pigmen's swords are made of Brittle Gold, not normal Gold. Try getting enough dust to make a few blocks and see if you can turn it into tools.

I had 16 obsidian and a few diamonds with me while exploring a cave system.  I fell into the lava and lost it all.  God damnit.

Anyone have a concrete list of the new blocks and what each one of them does?  I know the red mossy cobblestone is an infinite light source and the souls block slows you down but what about the rest?

I saved and exited while in the Nether, and the world size showed 0.0... Weird.

Those swords do a lot of damage, with a full suit and iron armor and diamond helmet I still die in three hits

Has anyone figured out the components of a clock yet? I assume it must somehow involve Redstone, Diamond, or perhaps more likely Brittle Gold, but I haven't found anything that works with it yet.
