In the space of 1 minecraft night the game was released and the servers went nuclear.  Impressive, not even the bay 12 servers die that fast.
o.O

Were you even alive on April 1st??

Confirmed.
Portals built from within the Nether do indeed work correctly.
Perhaps the aforementioned bug was a fluke of distance to the other portal.
I will attempt again, from further away.

Well, to be fair, lots of people either a) weren't expecting it, or b) assumed it was an April Fool's joke. I know I didn't fight with the B12 servers until the 2nd.  ;)

Yeah, the server is not feeling well. Now I wish I'd switched over to the faster one.

"Not feeling well", he says.  :P

Ah. Well, for the unknowledgeable, they were down lightning fast. This 1ups the minecraft crash because a)It was out of the blue, not planned, and b) it was on April 1st, so people could've thought it was a prank. And the server STILL crashed from mass downloads.

I think it would be best of two portals were not made in the same chunk. That sounds like it would strain whatever measures he made to make the hell world a "smaller place."

More likely to be 16 chunks, given the scale.  The two portals I tested with were not in the same chunk, to be sure.

Another note: leaf textures are now grayscale, to allow for the biome colorization.  Existing texture packs are even more broken.
You see this gray color when breaking them.

Time for science-y things.
TREE GROWTH IN THE NETHER?
--RESERVED FOR SCREENSHOT--

Server software updated, presumably working now.  Unknown due to Minecraft.net being kersploded.

This is awesome. Shame I have to sleep now, and when I wake up the buzz'll probs be over.

I am sad.

Biomes are also awesome. Notch should make it snow in the tundras and rain in the rainforests. That'd be awesome: no particle effects for now.

Digging down in the Nether is apparently a bad idea.

Very dwarfish thing down there, it seems. Is there more than the
