That image fills me with untapped rage, but not for the reason intended. You called the Halloween Update a Friday Update.

YOU BASTARDS THE SECRET FRIDAY UPDATES DON'T WORK LIKE THAT AND ARE NOT AKIN TO ACTUAL RELEASES YOU IDIOTS I WILL STRANGLE YOU WITH YOUR ANUSES FOR THINKING OF THEM AS ANYTHING OTHER THAN JUST HIM FOOLING AROUND.

This bullshit is the reason people start the bullshit when he misses one and think they aren't getting their monies worth.

I would bet money Andrew has edited things retroactively, except I can't prove anything because it was edited retroactively.

looks like i've got active neighbors,  i hope i didn't intrude,  I'm curious as to who's working in these areas.  I noticed the structure popped up in the center of that sea last night:

once i finish the sphinx, I've been thinking of building a massive spherical structure suspended over the lagoon,  let me know if any of you were looking at the same location for something else:

Luckily I didn't make the image, Duke, so you can go direct your rage at someone else :P

Haha that was me. That's hopefully going to end up being a very very large tree, but most of my stuff is further south (the big wings and the floating island by the Nome Dome). The final tree shouldn't even get close to your location (especially if you're planning on putting it within the circle you drew on the map), but if it looks like it might, you're more than welcome to the space. I was looking forward to the map update so I could see how those islands looked after I got rid of the above water part, so thanks for that screenshot!

Edit: Oh wait, there's no possible way I'll even get close to that circle. I just realized how much space that actually is.

Edit2:
Spoiler: de-islanding (click to show/hide)
Not as impressive as I'd hoped :P

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

Especially considering that Halloween is a SUNDAY.

My first rune I ever used was a mineshaft rune using a very fancy gold ore block.  Jay tells me it would have gone 30 something tiles down.

It went about 7 before hitting bedrock.  My first rune usage is off to a rocky start.   As a side note I may have also crashed the server doing that.

...My bad.

An actual crash would have been something.
No, that was the connection cutting out.

EDIT: Nope.

The single-packet ping that fsock uses is able to make it to the server, allowing the ONLINE status, but the sustained connections aren't.

Blah.
