Is the PA server public, or is it just for Tycho and the guys?

It's private. I went on it yesterday and checked out rapture. They even have you warp in to rapture in the burning plane wreckage and you have to swim the rest of the way. Very well done.

Has anyone ever done a lego level? Using lego instructions to make a village or whatever? I'm thinking about trying it and seeing if its any fun

Except...  I just tested it from work, and it is most definitely not.
The server itself is down as usual, but the site is working fine.

I just realized something about Hell-perspace: if there's an obstacle that's only, say, three meters thick THERE, and you want to get past it, you need to go thirty meters in the normal world...

Also, if you have a fortress in the real normal world, you need to build a 1/10th scale model in HPS, otherwise enemies can invade from nowhere...

Or even better, build it small and secure IN HPS, leaving no sign of your presence in the normal world.

Holy balls check out the map of the Penny Arcade server. The machine from Contact is probably my favorite.

Does everyone else feel terribly inadequate now?  I've spent three days just trying to carve a tower out of a mountain, and they've built Rapture, innumerable towers, entire city blocks, gorgeous floating structures...

And there appear to be multiple biomes, as there are both snowy and grassy regions.  have they been map editing?

They did do some editing, from making the abyss for Rapture to the valley below the floating city and the snow for the snow lands. Beyond that they do claim to have made all structures vanilla-style. I think they'll spawn things like water, lava, ice and other hard to manipulate stuff for style reasons, but everything else they have an island to the South which they harvest all their resources from.

I don't think it's our Ein, but if it is we'll have to get in on this action.

Dosen't this hillside just ask you to build a sphinx into it:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It'll be a bit trickier with the sand once i get to the head, but luckily the sphinx dosen't have its nose...
It does ask for a sphinx. Here's a building tip. Torches. Somehow, they can brace anyhting that falls when placed (gravel and sand). Great for traps and such. It may make the sphinx look unusual, unless you make a sort of necklace kind of thing to make the support structure more decorative.

Secondary idea: using the torch-port system, the nose is the way in. Break the nose torch-port, walk through, and you're in a secret archive.

Wow... Just looking around the map. I already spotted one underwater city so far (looks like the Gungan cities more than rapture). Also spotted an airship factory (Actually, it looks more like Sim City). Holy crap. Bloodfist has some competition. Considering the carving of the lands, and how clean alot of the sphere cuts are. Yeah, this is evidence of a map editor. Looking at the floating islands, I'm surprised Angel Island from the Sonic games wasn't rendered. It seems to have biomes and caverns in it (with it's share of magma pockets). Heck, the islands of Zeal (Chrono Trigger) could've been neat to spot.
