Meh, Minecraft will probably never have any "Goals". It's a true sandbox game, with nothing at all you have to do, but the freedom to build almost anything. It's also very well done, and cheap. Sure, there's nothing revolutionary about it, but for those who like this sort of game, it's pretty much prefect.

But it will have goals. Notch mentioned in a recent podcast / interview that he wants players to be able to win MineCraft but that it be as hard as winning NetHack "Not something you win but something you hear about other people winning". Should be interesting.

So, I found the problem with the c10t snapshots.
He was trying to read magic.dat from Runecraft for god-knows-what and it didn't like it.
Should be working now, anyway.

Does bay12 have their own online server where everyone plays on? I've been looking for a good server for awhile

[Self-promotion]Jaycraft is virtually Bay12's server.
It's not online all the time, but...

There's also PTTG's Planehacked, but I can't comment on it.

EDIT: I just realized this was my 3000th post.
Only fitting it's in here.

There's also Lap's Skyland+Runecraft server. It's still up, yes?

I wish I had thought of this earlier...
I just switched the Jaycraft site over to using JavaScript to call the header/footer without me defining it manually in every page.
That means I can modify it once and it'll automatically perpetuate through all the pages, instead of having to edit every page.
Of course, if you use NoScript or similar, you'll probably completely break it now, so make sure to add me to your whitelist...

EDIT: Oh, also, I added isometric maps.  They look pretty cool, I have to say.  Take a look on the JC Maps page, as usual.

I am attempting to see if Trees will grow side by side or really need to be separate. By doing this I will also be attempting to make an Epic treehouse...
It might have already been found, but I ain't gonna care if someone says otherwise, I doing science...

Trees only need 4 spaces of vertical space above the sapling tile, and light.
There is no horizontal space requirement.

I've got a 3x3 tree sitting somewhere on top of the mountain behind my main shelter in one of my worlds. That 3x3 tree has another tree sitting at its apex on a dirt block. I intend to see how far I can take this experiment :P

As an idle thought, hopefully enough work could expand this giganto-tree to the size of a mountain. From there, you hollow it out into a fully functional main base.

Might be interesting.

I use Laps server all the time. The floatie islands are so much fun. :D

I'll go to any server with Runecraft though, but I'm addicted to RC now :O

Any error messages or anything?
I received no connections that failed;
Did you have erroneous spaces in the IP box?  Minecraft likes to crash without explanation when you do.
