Is there any way to save your position in single player so that if you die you spawn there? I'm curious about this game but if you can't even find where you live after spawning from dieing...

Agh, damnit.
"Free weekend" is over, but the login server crashed.
Nobody can play online now.

Once the forums are put back online, do a search for MCEdit. I think that's the right program.

There's no official way to change spawn points.

I just downloaded Skylands so I could screw around offline. What did I find? Update! New land mass - the Vapor Ruins. The map also appears much cleaner than it used to.

MCedit can be used for it, so can NBTedit, or a half-dozen others.

However, of note is that compasses point towards your spawn location. So if you make one, you'll know where it is.

I know it's unrealistic, but I can't help but imagine little bearded babies for dwarves. In my mind, they come out of the womb fully bearded. That's how the mother carries them around, too, she just drags them around by the beard or ties it to her belt. When the father's on duty, he just ties their beards together and the baby just kind of hangs there, swinging to and fro with Urist McDaddy's movements.

SO MANY CONNECTION ISSUES NOW
The cloud is slow as sin.
The site seems to be (mostly) working, but...
The login server is unresponsive.
Verification is up, which is a killing blow without the login.
E: And it's the middle of the night for Notch.
So no fix in sight.
WHY OH WHY DID HE REACTIVATE VALIDATION BEFORE HE FIXED THE SERVER?!

E2: On the bright side, updated Jaycraft Minecraft Cartograph(t)™ maps.

I have yet to quit, so I am sneakily still playing and it is awesome. I discovered a massive cavern with magma and an asston of iron and I am in the process of clearing it out, which is taking forever and is really nervewracking.

Protip: Explore first, then mine.  Take a buttload of torches and light up the natural caverns as far as you can reasonably progress down every offshoot, then mine in peace.  Unless you enjoy jumping out of your chair at the sound of a guitar being plucked.  Goddamn noisy skeletons.

I have this fairly complex mine leading up to the cavern, it took me forever to find one.

e: Oh fuck this place is a nightmare. They're falling from above and I can't get high enough to seal it off. That's the second time I barely escaped with my life.

It's easy to forget when you're running around underground like a meaty pincushion - you can build.

No, I'm digging around and coming at the vein from another side, I've far too little health and my farm's not up for harvesting yet.

This shit will not beat me.

Or do what I do and use those upwards-shafts as spots to begin my skylights. Sure they take a while to mine out but there is no greater feeling of satisfaction of having skeletons burning to death underground.

But yeah, seal that shit up and then mine. It's suicide otherwise.

So is it totally not possible to connect now, or will it eventually work if I keep trying over and over and over and over?
