Man, all those diamonds are coming in handy. Earlier today, I began excavating the ruins in the Celestial Wastelands. That had to be at around 3:00PM my time. It's nearly 3:00AM now. Perhaps that's why you don't get any spiffy pictures of the layout - I'm about to fall out of my chair.
Midway through, Derek, who posted above, joined in. Before that, I had mainly concerned myself with digging out the interiors of the various domiciles. Now, there are actually paths between the buildings. Since the beginning of my endeavor, I've broken at least five diamond shovels. We keep uncovering more and more ruins in the process. It's a "one step forward, two steps back" sort of thing. Dig out one building, uncover three more! Some of the largest buildings, such as the largest that I call the Keep, only stick out of the ground maybe ten levels. They extend beneath the sand another ten or so. That's a lot of digging.
For anyone who has seen it, I still haven't decided how to go about roofing these structures. The lack of any existing roof pieces would suggest they were intended to be wooden, but I don't foresee spending that much time importing dirt to grow trees with. Speaking of which, there is a (very small) tree farm around the ruins somewhere. Next to the farm is a fairly deep mine shaft. I've dug through all of the sand (
) to reach the rock below so I could have access to building materials.
Once I wake up in the morning, I'll see about getting some pics.
