The forums are working fine for me. Admittedly I haven't tried posting (they certainly don't need my help to make stupid posts!), but I've yet to see a web forum where posting went down while the forums were still available for viewing.

Goddamn creepers.

So I got to work on a back door for my base, working on making the crater I dug it out of slightly less dangerous, when all of a sudden I hear an explosion. A creeper had snuck up behind me, and apparently killed himself by falling into the pit. Destroying the work I had done. Gosh darn creepers.

Anyways, that was easy enough to fix. I decide I need to get some more iron and spelunk deep into the caves that my house is built on, digging through gravel and coal to get down. As I go deeper, I keep hearing footsteps, and they aren't mine. Finally, I hit something that's not gravel. A little open space. I dig a bit more so I can see what I'm dealing with.

2 jumping creepers, thankfully several layers below me.

... I'll get back to them once I have more armour. Or a bow.

I went back (with just a ton of grilled pork) and they didn't appear to despawn.

Total kills: 2 creepers, 3 zombies, 1 skeleton.
Haul: Like 5 iron, 35 redstone, and discovered some magma. There's probably more stuff down there but I just wanted a compass, so I'm good for now. Exploring time!

Whoo, finally finished my bridge (153 meters long). With the advent of the compass I feel a need to be able to put it to good use, which means building roads extending from my spawn point.

Now I've just got a mountain to level off, and build a home on, then another probably huge bridge to build.

Can't stop that progress!

Are you gonna put minecart tracks on the roads?

2 days after I buy the game, it's released for free. Are there many griefers about now?

Almost everyone was having the same problem.  Notch did something screwy with the server now, so you need to redownload the exe.  Just go to the Minecraft offline page and download the Windows program, since it's not the same anymore.
