Damn, that community is terrible.

I agree, notch made it so the current version of Minecraft is easily downloadable even without an account, a free weekend sort of deal, and all the people that have paid are shitting themselves. They're mad that others get to play the game without paying, even though this will probably benefit notch, as he will addict a few thousand people, people that will proceed to buy the game after.

Geez. As a TF2 player, I'm entirely used to free weekends - they bring in a short-term influx of total morons, sure, but it's far from a game-breaking thing (and it's a big benefit to the developers). More importantly, with the authentication servers offline (hence why you get a generic name and skin while online), Notch's only options are a) make it free to everyone and declare a free weekend, or b) cut off Minecraft for everyone, paying customers included. Really, which option do you want?

...of course, I can't get the offline client to work now - it constantly encounters a fatal error halfway through the download. Any known workarounds?

From his twitter: "The hitbox is the same size when sneaking. You walk slower, make no noise, can't fall of ledges, and won't trample crops. Camera is lower."

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

Well, there wasn't a server update.
Jaycraft still works.

I know it's unrealistic, but I can't help but imagine little bearded babies for dwarves. In my mind, they come out of the womb fully bearded. That's how the mother carries them around, too, she just drags them around by the beard or ties it to her belt. When the father's on duty, he just ties their beards together and the baby just kind of hangs there, swinging to and fro with Urist McDaddy's movements.

I suspect the minecraft site crashed from the flood of people from PennyArcade.

We would have died to many other sites long ago if that was the case. And they already knew of us over there, so I think it was just the general addition of more peoples. Updates have been rather chugging along lately, so it was just a matter of time.

Well, I'm glad I made a backup before I made a fishing rod.
It completely broke the server, I had to manually restore said backup.
Seriously, they don't even do anything yet.
So don't make one if you're on Jaycraft.

Goddammit, why does the forum have to be down now?  I'm in dire need of technical help here.  Fucking display drivers.
