Go onto Minecraft, select mutiplayer, then copy paste the IP address into the bar and connect.

Aha, thats more the level of detail I need.
I needed to update my client, works fine now.   Got some stuff to do, but Ill be back to play in an hour or so.
And thanks for the info!

Fun times. There's plenty of buggyness to go around, but it was pretty neat to be able to play with some of the new features of Survival mode, in MP.

E: See future post for server status.
I'm starting a new map because of the various bugs/missing features.
Sorry to those who were expecting to see my world5 today, but I'll just lose too much to bugs to do it now.

Back it up, throw it to the blender, if it dies, restore.

Exciting times.

I'm still a newbie, learning to play offline.

Q: what griefer protection is in the SMP?

I see stuff like "Names/logins aren’t verified yet" and I don't see mention of passwords and stuff.

I'm guessing there's no land claims yet (if ever), but is there even a log of who causes map changes so a griefer can be identified after the fact?

I ask because I quit playing Haven & Hearth over outta-control griefing with very few countermeasures.  It became utterly clear that H&H was about PvP, which is not something I'm interested in.

So, having paid for this, I'm hoping for a better experience.

List of anti-grief measures:

  • You can't edit the spawn chunk.
