I actually meant torches. trees are good too, but they take time to grow.

Oh, well I figured you just put a few tree trunk blocks in a square or cube and lit them on fire every so often for use as a lighthouse.
God I hate the minecart collision.
I managed to reduce the problems I have by a coal storage cart infront of the engine cart then my cart then a storage cart infront.
But my storage and personal cart always glich and shoot off every so often.
When it works right it's real nice though.
Also one load of coal into the engine lasts 2 trips around my track which go between my sand dome and underwater dome.

or you can just have a pool of water at the bottom so that the fall won't harm you. all it would require is a bucket of water.
Make sure it's two deep.
I learned that lesson the hard way.

Points if anyone gets the reference on the new item's name (it's a bit obscure)

If the new one is botany bay, i get it. .D

How do you generate those maps?

If you create a water or lava fall, do they stay forever?

Yes.

I know it's unrealistic, but I can't help but imagine little bearded babies for dwarves. In my mind, they come out of the womb fully bearded. That's how the mother carries them around, too, she just drags them around by the beard or ties it to her belt. When the father's on duty, he just ties their beards together and the baby just kind of hangs there, swinging to and fro with Urist McDaddy's movements.

I should have specified.
Botany Bay has been there.

The new item is Chatham Canal.

I'v been fucking with my minecraft maps.
Removing grass and dirt makes really cool maps.
Changing all stone to glass makes some pretty cool looking maps too as long as you are under the surface.
But it keeps causing my game to crash.

How do you generate those maps?

When I got that, it was apparently something to do with the new sound files (13.ogg and cat.ogg) not having downloaded yet, which stopped any sound from playing. After a few minutes in game sound suddenly returned. What threw me off was it didn't download the sounds while updating, or mention that it was downloading them in any way. :/
