Yeah it takes a bit to get stairs, but its not like you are ever in short supply of cobblestone. Like you said, you have 2 chests full of the stuff. If needed, build a guard rail.

I know it's unrealistic, but I can't help but imagine little bearded babies for dwarves. In my mind, they come out of the womb fully bearded. That's how the mother carries them around, too, she just drags them around by the beard or ties it to her belt. When the father's on duty, he just ties their beards together and the baby just kind of hangs there, swinging to and fro with Urist McDaddy's movements.

I wish in some areas trees would spawn closer together. Makes it too easy to get wood, I know, which is why I say certain areas.

Agh damnit.
None of the maps I played on today will generate a cartograph map anymore.

Yeah, I still have problem placing them facing the right way tho. I need to test a bit. I've learned the trick with doors.

My forest has one tree every 3-4 squares. Once in a while I go there and wipe them out, then replant.

You should all be ashamed of yourselves.  The obvious solution is to chain the baby up at the entrance as a kobold detector.

Spoiler: My aqueduct (click to show/hide)

View is from the top of my skyscraper, I had to wait for a cloud to pass by, haha, otherwise I couldn't get a screenshot. It's 2 tile wide and after a few down steps, each torch pair represents 10 squares. And yes, it goes in a tunnel in that mountain and goes all the way across, off the map. The pyramid was my initial safehouse, it has an underground tunnel to my mine.

You have to be really careful with boats when crossing one tile up/down steps... If they rock up and down too much, the boat hits the bottom and shatters. >.<

On the straight section inside the tunnel, it's a joy ride, extremely fast. :D

Ps.: I'm considering building a simple timer inside my tower with redstone and then make the torches flash on and off for a silly cool effect.

Pps.:

You have inspired me to try and build something like that of my own. Thank you.

I recommend you use 3 tiles wide instead of two. As I've found out, more than once, if you're at top speed and even scrape the wall, your boat shatters. Either you're careful and drive slow, or you build a wider lane.

I think I'm gonna put signs for each hundred tiles next.... Maybe a joke one saying something about top speed....

I did that to try to find an ocean or a lake in my world... but so far... It's all land.

Yeah. From what I understand, it also takes way more stone to make those stairs. 6 stones for each block. I kind of like the regular half-steps better for that reason, but they do make longer stairs.

Just a correction, the six blocks of stone (or wood if you prefer) create four blocks of stairs.  You are losing stone, but not as much.  I like them myself, because you don't have to mash the spacebar and get motion sickness to climb them.

So I built myself a giant flying castle, that can be accessed by climbing a very long ladder.

(I apologize in advance for forgetting to disable "Show FPS")

It has a bath.

Okay, so I cheated a bit to do it. I originally planned on just setting the map to Peaceful and exploring some deep caves for fun. However, I saw a giant island in the sky only barely connected to the ground, and I thought, "Let's not waste this massive supply of iron and coal!" So I almost completely demolished the island and built a castle on it. Then I set the game to normal and started filling it in. There's still quite a bit of space left.

I'm thinking about building a waterfall, or possible a giant slide so I can access the castle via boat.
