Meh, I don't know. I think Notch needs to make the game more.. challenging? I mean building a huge castle is fine, but once you have an iron sword and iron armor it's all practically sandbox. There needs to be some other aspects of the game introduced that make things more interesting. And no I'm not talking about more 'fun' buildable content, I'm talking about more 'fun' dangerous content. It's just missing a huge oomf, you know? The game just isn't engaging enough as it is once you play with all of the content and after you go cave diving for about an hour.

Well, coal can be found significantly above sea-level, so just look for an exposed vein to start with. Once you have torches, go spelunking. You will end up with more coal than you went in with, by far, if the cave is even of just average size.

Usually after finding my first coal, i just make a nice minimal small dirt cave home. Then I go spelunking. the second I get enough stone for a full set of tools, I get rid of my wooden ones and never look back. Caves make it easy to find exposed veins.

This would have been good advice a week ago.  Now, this man is trying to kill you.  I went spelunking in a cave barely below the dirt strata with full iron armor, a diamond sword, and a half-dozen pork slabs, and I barely escaped with my life after lighting up maybe a hundred yards of natural tunnel.  Skeletons ga-fucking-lore.

Okay, I also lit myself on fire and survived by the skin of my teeth my scarfing down fresh pork, but it was still due to the general atmosphere of danger.  Point is, it's now vastly safer to dig your own mining tunnels and keep them well lit.  If you break into an open chamber, plant a few torches.  If you hear any xylophone noises, block it up and never look back.

Might I ask what the xylophone music means?

Also, those random huge HUGE areas I explored a while back in peaceful mode are meant to be filled with evil skeletons?

I wonder, can we consider ourselves a clan SMP wise?

Are we gonna have an SMP server?
Because that'd be awesome.

Most likely, someone here said that they will host.

Yeah you should buy it now rather than later seeing how multiplayer is the last thing before beta.

I don't know, notch has been a bit quiet about how he will balance SMP.

I'm having lots of fun, but I'm too chicken to go off of peaceful for too long. I just like exploring and adventuring.
But...I NEED TNT! But I don't want to cheat. So...meh.

We are the same then.
I shudder when the sun goes down....Minecraft certainly manages to be excellent at being creepy.

Could you just imagine Minecraft meeting Dead Space and having some sort of quivering, fleshy lovechild?
I can, and I like it.

An extremely cubic live-in MMO cross between Event Horizon and Resident Evil?  Sounds great to me.

So, I just joined the Minecraft forums to make a simple suggestions.  Reading around at some other posts, I already feel dirtier.
