Reasonableman requests I show this to everyone.
Essentially, I placed a crapton of TNT on the surface and set it off using  a simple plunger system (as is used for IRL demolition)

The TNT placed above the initial detonation behaves very strangely.

I was somehow considered for moderation in the Minecraft forums, so now I sport a purple name and the basic moderation functions in the infdev section of the forums. Huzzah for me.

Finally, a new sheriff who can bring some law and order into that town.  Salute brother.

I pretty much have to abandon it now, since it doesn't have snow and snow is awesome
Hold it right there.
It's possible to get snow in existing maps.
Open the level.dat up in NBTEdit and change SnowCovered to 1.

Well, now I fell kinda silly for starting those celebratory forest fires, but I suppose the snowscape will look better with charred trunks instead of healthy trees.

This is awesome...Also, what did you do to that sheep in the beginning? It looked painful (for the sheep).

Also, Notch needs to take Ultimate Game Cards :P
Or something other than credit/debit.

If you hit a sheep you shear it and get wool.

Minecraft igloos! Huzzah! Painstakingly made by using dirt to make the shape and filling it in with water, waiting for it to freeze. I probably would've made it bigger, but I just wanted to show it off for now.
Warning, lots of images.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Also chairs, if that hasn't been found out yet. (Two signs on the side of a stairblock.)

Chairs?  What the fuck?  You can make chairs now?  Finally, some real furniture to go with my paintings.  Now we just need tables, beds, and fireplaces.

Yeah, it appears to throw the TNT up in the air.  While spectacular, if you want an effective explosion, the uppermost blocks should be ignited first.  It also seems like TNT set off by an explosion detonates sooner than when it's triggered otherwise normally, but I don't have much experience with TNT.

They are an illusion Aqizzar.

I'm not so sure.  They certainly don't look like signs next to stairs.  I'll have to try it out.  Pity it takes (calculating) about 20 pieces of wood per chair, if that is indeed the method.  Very dense construction.

I just checked. It's an illusion. Signs look very different when placed on a wall instead of the ground.

It's a stair block with 2 sign blocks (One on each side).

Still, It does make a pretty convincing chair. 18 1/2 wood per. (2 sticks for the signs.)

I know it's unrealistic, but I can't help but imagine little bearded babies for dwarves. In my mind, they come out of the womb fully bearded. That's how the mother carries them around, too, she just drags them around by the beard or ties it to her belt. When the father's on duty, he just ties their beards together and the baby just kind of hangs there, swinging to and fro with Urist McDaddy's movements.

You can also use stone for the stairs.

Ah right, I forgot you can place signs on walls.  Still, it's damn resource-intensive for a chair you can't sit on.  Maybe it'll start a craze that gets Notch's attention and he'll make some furniture.

That would be a rather uncomfortable chair.
