Well, the infinite system will generate new features in new territory, but that means you'll have to travel a long way to find new stuff.  I'd just make a new world.

Speaking of which, I did that and found the new red stuff.  I wonder what it does.  I can't seem to craft anything with it, but I'm fucking miserable at figuring out crafting by myself.

I found a stone room with a cage like the monster generators, but what looked like a signboard was inside. It was blank though, and when I harvested it with a stone pick, it was destroyed. Maybe they're Resource generators or something?

Also, the red ore yields a powder, which goes on a stick to form what looks like a magic wand. It functions as a torch though, but generates next to no light... maybe it's point-defense or a magic alert torch or something? I noticed that the red ore blinks with weak light when stepped on or hit too. Neat touch.

Anyone find recipes for mechanical components yet?

Stone on stone (not cobblestone; the one you get from smelting cobblestone) makes button. Pressure plate is stone in half-block config iirc. Iron door is same config as wooden and can only be opened with buttons or pressure plates.

It's worth noting that the red powder stuff acts like a wire.
The torch-like thing produces electricity or something to that effect.
Not sure how to make USE of it, but yeah.

Don't forget levers,
stick with a cobblestone on top

EDIT: I gotta try to use buttons, with wire and TNT.

I thought I was just imagining that.  Freaked my shit out the first time it happened, like it was going to explode, or explode into a crowd of spiders or something.  I still haven't found any of these treasure rooms or monster generators, although I did find some monsters wandering underground.

It was my biggest mining expedition yet - bunch of picks and meat, I navigated down into a natural shaft-hole, and started digging stairs down.  I usually just stick to natural caves, but this time I accidentally dug into a lava pipe.  As I jumped back to safety, I noticed a gold vein in the ceiling.  Then a red vein, and an iron vein, then I got buried in gravel, then into an obsidian chamber, then a lava sea (above where I had just been digging, and now I'm sitting on a motherlode of red ore, diamonds, and gold.  Fuck yeah.

I think you people are making all of this up... I haven't seen any of these "dungeons" or "red ore" seams.

Same here, I have not seen any of it either yet but according to the MC forums it exists so I will keep searching.

The red ore is EVERYWHERE.

Really, I had a chest half full of it.

But yeah, Ive only found it really close to the bedrock, IE, 5-20 blocks up.

But at that level, it was quite commen

Yeah, you have to get pretty close to the bottom of the map to find the red ore.  It also seems to only appear in 2x2x2 blocks, at least that's the arrangement I've seen in three of three veins.

Those wacky red torch things are probably bugged, and very confusing.  They do open any metal doors they're placed near.  Which is kinda good, since metal doors can't otherwise be opened, as I unfortunately found out.  Even more unfortunately, metal doors do not disassemble, they just disappear when destroyed.  Haven't figured out how to use floor switches either.  Oh well, maybe I'll make a rollercoaster or a waterslide.

I registered and will hopefully buy the game before it goes Beta.  Then will just be the matter of getting my home internet back because, even though I actually manged to run this thing on my laptop it's piss poor.  I was just amazed it was able to actually render it.

If you're up to doing skins, I've learned how to replace enemy textures in the raws for the online and exe versions.

I can't wait for Survival Multiplayer though. It will be awesome.
