More importantly, kinda, he said he'll start working on Survival Multiplayer next week. I do love the client though.

Diamonds seem more common now.  Picked up my sorry ass and restarted with that same cave system and found 3 pockets of 5 each (so 15 total for the mathematically impaired).

Also, started a new way of cave exploring.  Took the torch direction idea but also added in putting a bar of rock across each passage I'd already explored.  Helps keep me from running in circles and makes sure I don't come out with 6 slots of 64 rock.   On the downside, due to the time that this method saves me, I've fully explored the cavern system from before and am now back at square one.
Except now I have a diamond sword and a bow.

I still don't think I'm crazy enough to play this game properly.

Now it is time to make roads & stairs in the explored system and connect it to a nearby system. I did that with a large map in indev

The .exe has issues with being offline. You are likely to crash and lose all inventory.

I am using signs and torches so I will never get lost again.

Neat idea

Also, I just thought. Now that there are block clouds, it would be cool if they could be more than 1 block thick. Then if enough clouds gather they block the sun and it would start to rain. =P

I am using signs and torches so I will never get lost again.

That is a completely useless sign.

I'm finding the offline client doesn't lag anywhere near as much as playing online did.  Which is to be expected I suppose.  The larger resolution would be cool, if I could see more; it's not really better or worse without.

Argh, my latest map has an awesome hillscape right by the spawnpoint, but it's like there are no caves anywhere.  Every one I've found has been a single room, except for this latest one, which still hasn't led me to any goodies/is totally shallow.  Even digging around hoping to hit a cave hasn't yielded anything; I've dug straight down to the adminium bottom, and all I got to show for it was a huge tunnel-basement in my base and like <20 iron ore and <64 coal.

I love my base, though, it's awesome.  It's a shallow, natural cave in this mountain by the spawnpoint.  There's a two-block wall of gravel preventing monsters from getting in, a natural T-shaped window, and a great view.

I've made a more useless sign before.  I got lost in a cave.  I placed down a sign I happened to have in my inventory and wrote "You are completely fucking lost".

Oddly enough it was helpful, because it marked a big intersection and whenever I ended up back in that intersection I knew 2 directions that did not lead back out.  I eventually made it out probably 3 ingame days later.  The sign is still down there I bet.

THAT sign is, because it is in a passage way but when you have three ways to choose from where to go signs are quiet helpfull.

Its actually quite easy to keep from getting lost.
Just lay all your torches to the left or right when you go in, and stay constant.

Don't lay any when you are headed backwards, and as long as the torches are on the opposite side from which you placed them, you'll be headed out.

We need to be able to place signs on walls perhaps?
