My current base is a small wooden shack... in the center of a giant waterfall. The increased number of monsters got me killed several times, so I just created such a giant current that nothing can actually reach my door. Now if only we could make pitfall traps...

Buying this game was really worth it, it gets better every day.

Especially now that Notch is working full-time on it. Seriously, it's been getting a half-dozen new features every week (and that's excluding failed experiments like the new file system).
It got three new features in one day.
Today.

2.

There are some new features in the map gen, I also found some caves/holes/biig holes around.
Now I'm building a small tunnel network connecting my "HQ" (where I store stuff, actually), to all the caves I find etc..
On the other map I was playing a more "Settlement" kind of game, now I'm doing more exploration...and it's really nice!

Yeah exploring the caverns is pretty fun esspecially now that he increased the amount of mobs that spawn.

There are three modes you can play, creative which is where you are imortal and you have infinite blocks of everything and no mobs spawning.
indev which is something like the older version of infdev i think and in it you have to make tools to gather ressources, build yourself a house and a lot more you can do.
infdev is pretty much like indev except it has waaaaay more features and more items you can make and it has pretty cave networks.

It costs 10 euro which is for me 16 Australian dollars.

I dont know how long it has been around but the dev is working on it pretty steadily and the longer you wait with buying it the more it will cost in the end.

No problem, you can play creative mode even with a free account before buying a full account so you can do that in the mean time if you want to try the building mechanisms of the game.

EDIT: Sneaky skeletons killed me again in the caverns while I was looking for the

I was exploring some caverns and I came across a big build up of mobs, including two skeletons.. the skeletons were killing each other. They weren't trying to shoot me and accidentally shooting each other, they were actually face to face shooting arrows and twirling around in a circle. One eventually died.

Didn't think that could happen!

Hmm, my world one is now crashing whenever I try to load it.
What a shame, I spend quite some time on it.

There's  bug that causes a crash if you get within a certain distance of a sign after reloading a map. It ought to be resolved after the weekend. I'm also getting a crash where the window disappears, and I lose any map changes up until the last time I logged out, which has sucked... cost me a few large projects so far. :/

Has anyone found any of the new secret stuff? I've been looking high and low on 3 different new maps, and had no luck. I did civilize a particularly harsh cave system in the process though, and filled it with checkpoints, defensible locations, in-wall dwellings, and constructed forts in some of the larger open caverns. Also, there's a river that flows down from the starting checkpoint to the deep caves I was last exploring, making it an express route to continuing exploration.

Yes I got lucky by finding a particularly large network of caverns and I was exploring for about three hours, within that time I found two  treasure rooms, 7 diamonds, and 12 gold ore along with about 150 iron ore. Never found a saddle though, just the two cages. When I surfaced I felt a little.. exhausted. I'm currently looking for a new place to settle but I can't really make up my mind, I don't know what to do at this point. It's like I've encountered everything the game has to offer so far (even though I know that is partially false). Can't wait for more content.

Not sure if you guys know. You can harvest the cages for a mob spawner.

The spawner only spawns pigs after you grab it, though.

I've found two treasure rooms in my latest map. Extensive spelunking is the only way to find them.

Also, I found brown mushrooms in caves in Infdev. That's gotta be new.

The spawner spawns mobs relative to your difficulty and the darkness the spawner is in. (I THINK)

I'll often find brown mushrooms underground as well as above ground at night (or in the morning). The only problem I have is finding red speckled mushrooms, they seem fairly rare. Or maybe I'm just unlucky. I believe the mushrooms were added with the flowers, roughly around natural caverns were integrated with infdev.

Unlucky. brown mushrooms near sea level, red dotted on hills/mountains.
