Gabeux, go to this URL and then press 't' and type '/goto dwarven' sans the quotes after spawning. T is for talking.

I was thinking plain old wood: build up  a tall enough pile of it on your lighthouse, and it's more visible than torches, presumbly.

Well, there's a single trunk piece that has been burning for several ingame days now from that forest fire.

Given how quick the thing spread, I'm reasonably certain that's a fluke.
Fires don't last long.
I'd light my tower up to test it, but obviously, the entirety of the tower is wood, and that would be...  unfortunate.
Torches are, as far as I can tell, the only light source besides lava that lasts a reasonable amount of time.
Say, there's an idea - Stick lava springs up there.
Just be careful not to burn yourself on it.
Luckily lava doesn't appear to burn wood, so I'm completely clueless as to how my stupid fire started in the first place, but...

Behold, My humble abode.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Features include a swimming pool, farming greenhouse with automated seed collection system, magma moat, magma illuminated glass ceiling in the foyer(not visible due to magma covering), internal magmafall, extensive 100% lit mining system and minecart track through 80% of the mine, and deep natural magma pool for an effectively infinite supply of magma.

I'm pretty sure lava used to light stuff like wood on fire. (I tried making a wooden bridge through lava once.  Didn't work).  but it just seems broken right now.

Pour a bucket of lava on the top of a tree though, then light the tree on fire with a flint and you eventually get a pretty spiffy little lava spire thing as the burning tree causes all these new flow routes to appear without removing the old ones.  Kinda spiffy.

That's what I was just about to try and then got burned and died.  Ungh.  Lots of stuff lost on that corpse.  Replaceable all except the diamond sword.

Simple, but nice. As fun as magma projects are, I prefer the simple stuff.

Oh, magma illuminated glass ceilings are fancy, I've got that in my noble's room on my creative map, can't see it currently, but I can do a bunch of mumbo jumbo with a few utilities, and load it up in indev, looks great.

http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Crafting

When I try it nothing happens, I can not even build torches.
I can build axes, pickaxes and shovels fine as well as crates and workbenches but I simply can not build a door or torch (and possibly other as stuff as well)

EDIT: okay, my mistake, I tried indev instead of infdev

When was it $5?
I paid $12.34 (approximately 9.95 Euros, the current price) over a year ago.
As far as I know, I bought it practically as soon as it went on sale.
I don't think it was ever cheaper then this.
It's going to go up when it hits beta, probably to 14.95 euros, then to 19.95 (or 20.00?) euros when it hits "final".
