Bahhhhhhh I hate my PC. Half the games I've bought worked on my old PC but don't work on this. (TF2, Minecraft etc).
Kinda sucks.
Espesh considering this PC is technically newer/better

Update Java and DirectX and your Video Drivers.

Two updates! New worldgen stuff and updated water physics, plus a public world previewer. It's not quite as powerful as Cartographer, I think, but it does seem to allow some fun features like day/night.

AFAIK I have the most recent DirectX and Java possible for my PC (I.e not 10). It's a pain to upgrade drivers due to it being a shitty integrated card, but I guess I should try.

If its a new computer you very likely do NOT have the most up to data Java and drivers.

On my latest Infdev map, I decided to settle a cave. I came to a point where the horizontal cave I was in intersected with a deep vertical pit. A small hole in the wall of the pit was leaking magma, which shed light on half of it, and pooled at the bottom. I bridged the gap, constructed a few jump puzzles to keep the mobs out, and proceeded to carve out a small fortress from the rock surrounding the magma chasm.

I've got 2 full stacks of Iron, armor, tools, buckets... soon I'll be building an underground  greenhouse using bucketed Lava and Water for Light and Irrigation. Might even make an underground forest, by making a glass ceiling filled with Lava.

Make sure you're using a Pick. If it's an Ore tile, you need a Stone Pick (or harder) or the resource is ruined.

There's also a small bug where, if you break your Pick while mining a tile, the game assumes you broke it with your bare hands and you don't get any stone. So don't go mining diamonds when your pick only has 1 use left.  ::)

Bear in mind that my last PC was new in 1999, and this PC was "new" in 2004, I'd guess. Neither of them were gaming computers though. This one really isn't.

Video card drivers don't automatically update.
Just because it's an integrated GPU doesn't mean you can ignore GPU drivers.
Check your manufacturer's website.

DirectX version shouldn't matter too much, being that it runs on OpenGL, an entirely different set of instructions.

Java's automatic updates, if you get them at all, tend to fail without any feedback.
Just install the latest version from the website.  It's not like it's horribly difficult.

Assuming he's been working on minecraft continuously for about 57 weeks, Notch has an effective salary of 87 dollars an hour.

87 dollars and 28.07 cents.

$43.64 after taxes.

That number is also low, because the man still has to sleep ;P

And before June started, he was only working on it an estimated 60% of his awake time.

I estimated he spent 8 hour days- presumably, time spent over that was just the love of the project, so they would qualify as non-work time.

Still, even if he worked 16-hour days five days a week, that still comes to a healthy $48 an hour pre-tax.
