I shat a few bricks when I found out skeleton arrows go through doors.

That sounds like a bug.
Back to the old dirt block!
It's okay, though. I just put up a NO SKELETONS ALLOWED sign.
And made a hallway with two turns and ten doors to get in.

I am part of the community on the Minecraft forums, and I gotta say, the parts of the forums that I frequent aren't filled with idiots. Maybe I just visit the threads that aren't all that interesting to your average child/bumpkin.

There are plenty of awesome people. Ramen being one of them. He's so manly.

Uhhmm... is it me or does water and lava spawn at the same level? I went down to the water and noticed it had a weird grid effect to it that was reddish orange. I looked closer and it's almost like lava and water are on the same tiles together. Going into it doesn't hurt though. Also, flow seems to be completely busted as well.

Did he mention anything like this?

Also, it might just be me, but ore veins seem more rare now

The water thing is a small texture bug, It'll probably get fixed.  Looks a bit like the U/V coords are a little off is all.

So I have a question about the current version of minecraft.

Does Infdev have underground caverns yet? And does Indev have the recent crafting updates that infdev has, like doors and signs? Sorry to bump the thread, I couldn't find the answer.

No on both counts unfortunately, infdev will replace indev when it's ready and will have fixed sized worlds as an option. It would take too much effort to keep both updated the same.

On a related note.

Is there iron ore in infdev? Do I need to strip-mine some huge area or something?

I've personally found every resource... Gravel and Sand are on coasts, Coal and Iron can be found after some exploratory mining almost anywhere, or by exploring for stoney cliffs or hillsides, and wood is in abundance in flat areas. It seems as though there are biomes of sorts too, in that there are predominant features, like overhanging cliffs, mountains, long flat coasts, plains, inland lakes, etc. varying by region.

Also, just to show it off: http://www.minecraft.net/skin/skin.jsp?user=Solifuge

I make it a point to figt Zombies and Creepers with a plain wooden pole now.

I've got a base that's just awesome, overhanging a lower-level coast.

It's already at a high elevation, but by adding a mast on top of the highest point, I can get over the cloud deck... and it looks awesome.

Now I just need the iron to make a bucket to bring seawater up to add a spring to my garden, and maybe a waterfall.

Has minecraft somehow transitioned into something more than electronic legos?

I'm intrigued.

Survival mode has been around for months now. It's long since evolved beyond electronic legos.

The survival mode I tried was just running around shooting arrows at things.

Is there resource control now, I assume?  Do you just dig out a tile to get the 'resource' it contains?
