Haha.  :D

No wood to burn, and too much water to drink.

Infdev still needs some work I see  ;)

The leaves stay there because there's no ticking tiles yet, fire burning, farms growing, and tree leaves falling. I'm not sure why it didn't spawn without wood though, that's weird. I can't wait for these underground tunnels that go on infinitely.

Well, I don't really need wood to burn stuff.  Stuff doesn't tick like Someguyo said, so fires set with the flint and tinder never go out unless you snuff 'em.  ...You can set invisible ones, too, apparently, if you aim at like a stone wall or something.

In that map with the floating foliage, I dug a little hall into the rock by the water, which went a bit in, split, and sorta made a mesa-platform sorta thing by going further back and rejoining.

I but a flame wall up by the entrance and shot all my arrows out to a nearby island, but eventually a skeleton shot me and his arrows were spawning crap past the wall.  :\

Ran back to the split and barricaded the place, then layed like 40 TNTs.

There I learned that TNT has a large blast radius.  At the furthest my thing reached I still took like my entire bar of health in damage.  I lived, but my halls were now a hole, and I probably died jumping down from my little platform.

So I started experimenting with TNT.  I dug a long trench and filled it with TNT, which got me a crater.  I also tried digging around and spacing the TNT out haphazardly, which ened with me accidentally mining a box of TNT I'd already placed, at the furthest point in in my little TNT mine.  That got me a larger crater-cavern, and left me with like 12-ish or so.  Also, when night set during that one, I went and set a ring of fires around the site and put a bunch of TNT on the surface.

After that I made a bomb-house, the roof of which I set on fire.  Then I discovered bomb-houses have REALLY big killzones.

Anyone wants to explore a 3D Dwarf Fortress, mine is about 95% complete.
Sngle-player: http://www.minecraft.net/play.jsp?user=Krelos&id=0
Multi-player: See sig.
Feel free to take a copy if you are so inclined.
Probably alot more human stuff on the surface to come but I'm almost out of ideas for underground.
Really I've only got HFS left to add down there. I suppose I could do a full size bottomless pit.. or magma pipe..

In order to improve the universe's frame rate, we must all throw rocks into volcanoes and then do absolutely nothing, worldwide, for a week, to take pressure off pathfinding.
or maybe throw them into the large hadron collider to atom-smash them instead.
Not to mention to throw all available animals into tiny pits.

That is not helpful.

thou shall not inform your geek son/daughter of any problems with your computer while saying "there was a message, i didn't bother reading it, i just clicked "OK""  :P

Please tell us EXACTLY what the error message says. A screenshot of the error will work. Also tell us WHEN it happens.

This slipped so far off the front page, somebody tried to create a new thread. 'bout time for a wee nudge, methinks. :D

infdev is finally getting interesting - the new map generator is certainly fun, at the very least. I haven't had much experience with it yet - I noticed night falling but I'm not sure if monsters spawn yet. Anybody spent any substantial amount of time with it? It it "playable" yet, in the sense that indev is currently "playable", or it it still just a work in progress?

You can now craft and build in infdev, but I haven't seen any mobs.

You should email Notch and ask him to think about trying the new payment system, 'Kwedit.'

I'm afraid Notch isn't going to be updating the free version for a while. And many of the new features are payer-only (I'm not sure if single-player 'indev' is going to be free, but MP certainly won't be!).

Try contacting him directly. He seems like a nice enough guy, and after seeing his Christmas deal I doubt he's worried about losing one sale. Just remember to ask him nicely!

The infdev version is mostly done, I believe mobs are the next thing he's working on. Previously they were spawning from arrows being shot into blocks (?), but now you start with nothing and without mobs there's no way to make a bow anyway.

A lot of bugs have been fixed now too. However, the creative mode shouldn't be looked down on so much, I think a lot of people spend a good amount of their time there. Especially considering some of the amazing towns and such that have been created.

Is Infdev going to be infinite on the Z-axis, too?  I suppose down would be "capped" by lava, but will the game generate a bunch of empty sky as well, so I could build a tower into infinity or some such awesomeness?

Sadly, no, if I remember correctly. He's working to make it high, though. I think.
