That's quite an amount of torches, pretty bad luck on the diamonds though, so far. I love large caverns like that.

A sheep got into the lower level of my fortress. I do not know how this sheep got into my fortress. All I care for is removing this sheep from my fortress, but I used up all my arrows taking potshots at spiders. Do sheep hurt?

I just got the indev version two days ago or something. It does take a little bit to understand at first, but being inspired by the stuff a lot of veterans are showing off I really enjoy the game. I finally found 6 or so diamonds, though I don't know what to make from them. For such a simple concept it's really fun, just block up your door at night.

 Sheep don't hurt unless you are bathed in the light of a full moon. Then they become amorphous blobs of wool, ready to swallow any living thing whole.

 Also, did the frog explode?

I went down into the lower level to stare at the sheep and suddenly FROG! Also: I was digging a ditch and suddenly HUGE SPIDERS EVERYWHERE! I am being scared by Minecraft D:

Ah, that frog is a creeper, watch out, they explode, unless Notch recently actually did add frogs while I was busing playing Sandbox mode.

Ah. Is it usually impossible to go outside anywhere without being immediately swamped by spiders and creepers?
Also: Skeletons are sieging my fortress in day time. I thought they only lived during night?

Spiders: leave them alone and they shall leave you alone... during the day at least. Just don't attack any at night and you'll be fine.

Creepers: They don't die during the day, but soon after the sun comes out they tend to vanish anyway.(I'm not sure why)

Sleletons/zombies: They don't die as soon as the day starts, but soon after they durst into flame and eventually die.

Light kills them. If your surrounding area is too dark, they can survive.

I found one that covered almost the entire(small) map. You could reach all four edges without mining anything, and it took forever to drain so I could explore it.
