Can I buy like, a prepaid paypal card or something in walmart, then use it to pay for minecraft?

I don't have a credit card.

Paypal is accepted by Notch. I've never used a pre-pad card before, but assuming there's no difference between that and normal Paypal money, there shouldn't be an issue.

You can link a paypal account with a bank account, but that's a more complicated procedure.

Also, I'd point out that flint is now useless unless you're a pyromaniac. :D

*just made flint and steel for the first time 10 minutes ago*
*proceeded to light random tiles on fire*
*watches a tree, another tree, and his house catch fire*

Whoops.

you can put out fire by left-clicking on it... but work fast.

Or by smothering it in water.

Technically, I believe smothering it in magma would also extinguish the flames... although I can see that having minor negative consequences.  ;)

GODDAMMIT

I had an awesome dev survival going.  Growing wheat, a full suit of armor, nice little cobblestone cabin ringed with torches to keep the Skeletons away.  Then I accidentally opened up an awesome exploratory mine with a Creeper chain-explosion.

And while I'm fucking around building dirt staircases, a zombie pops out into the sunlight and beats me to death in a corner while I'm fumbling for a porkchop.

Oh well, back to the Hell maps.

Yeah, the crafting only makes sense after you see it once.  I'll just crib all this from the Wiki, because it's all there too (I think Notch updates it himself as a manual).

First, open your inventory (press - i -).  Then, place a unit of log in one of the four spaces right of your picture.  That'll make wood, put that in your inventory.  Then, place one unit of wood in each of the four squares, that makes a workbench.

Place the workbench like a block, right-click on it, and you can make larger stuff with the 3x3 grid.  In general, crafting works by arranging component bits in the shape of the object you're making.  But it's so opaque until you see it once, you might as well check the Crafting page on the Wiki.

This is my modest little farm.
At last count, well over 1300 wheat harvested.

Dude. That is just awesome.

I thought I was clever when I got enough wheat to make a loaf of bread.

Guess what? Infinite maps.

In August of 1943, while serving as skipper of the PT-109, John F. Kennedy's boat was ripped in two by the Japanese destroyer Amagiri. Kennedy and his crew were tossed into the water and surrounded by flames. Kennedy, despite a chronic back injury and an even more chronic boning-induced-exhaustion, managed to swim four hours to safety while towing an injured crewman by the life jacket strap with his teeth. His fucking teeth!

Guess what? Infinite maps.

Indeed, quite cool, although insanely huge maps would have worked well enough.  :P Although I suppose then there are no map edges, and you can't build near a corner anymore.

Technically they are just insanely huge maps.

Quote from: Notch
The maximum map size won’t actually be INFINITE in this plan, but rather 4,294,967,295*4,294,967,295*4,294,967,295 chunks. Assuming 16^3 block chunks, that’s a total of 324 nonillion (3.24E32) blocks. You’ll run out of disk space LONG before you run out of map.
