You should check out AdventureCraft, Itnet. It may help. :) (Still 1.4, though.)

Also, FiniteLiquids looks awesome. It replaces all of Minecraft's waters with the finite waters, though you can get original infinite MC water by tossing in redstone and gold. Too bad it's still 1.4. It appears it was just updated. :O

Awesomesauce.
So they're saying that because it was released on the PC, it has crappy graphics? And releasing it on the PS3/360 would give it awesome graphics? Youtube is bad for my blood pressure.  ::)

It’s possible we might have a mod marketplace for selling
and buying mods that fans have written
...Not sure how I feel about buying mods

Don't buy them then.

Someone will just make a copy and give it out for free.

* Let players sign up as “mod developers”. This will cost money, and
will require you agreeing to a license deal (you only need one per
mod team).
Modders are gonna have to pay to use the un-obfuscated code, making it harder for those who don't want to lay down money.

Wow.. minecraft is going to become very expensive. I can imagine that everybody will then proceed to copy what Notch does and extort money from it too.

Notch was actually secretly hired by Valve, and he's testing marketing ideas for them.

Sshhhh.

I just read Notch's twitter and blog, and he said that modders would need to pay a bit extra to see the source code to help them.

In less than five minutes, the whole community basically punched him in the face and got him to change it to no price.

Talk about customer pressure :P

Because of the feedback, we lowered the cost to "free". Sorry about that!

Serves him right for wanting money for everything :P

How much does Minecraft cost, anyway? I'm thinking of buying it.

Well, people who bought Minecraft in alpha or before (like me :D ) would have got them free, according to the original legal shizz he had on the site. If he made us pay, we'd send out...

Wut?
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

These aren't missing chunks. There's water where the missing chunk would be and there's sand at the bottom. The hole is very deep, but there is land there. I guess the world generator just vomited up part of a mountain and decided not to finish it.
