Trying and failing to install IC on 1.4_01. Which is funny, because I've installed it just fine the same way on two previous versions. The only thing I'm doing differerently is not using MoreIDs, which the mod says it not longer needs since 1.4.

Multiplayer question:

Running a small server for some friends, going a little RPG/PvP. Using iConomy for money, mostly to but rare stuff (nether stone etc.)

BUT, we also want to track PvP kills, and be able to spend points earned from that in another shop... This would be separate from iConomy currency.

Currently I'm guessing we'll have to use soulsand for this alternate currency, but I haven't been able to find a mod for item-for-item trading: they mostly hook into iConomy (or something similar).

Anyone have any suggestions/know of any mods to help?
(Running Bukkit of course. Using NPCX for shops at the moment...)

If you're using TFC's mod manager, that does not work.

Solar, don't use something that you can easily get more of unless you get lucky. Make it slimeballs. Or if you want it completely dupe free, snowballs, because you can't get those yet, right?

Chainmail maybe?  Sure it sounds silly but those aren't makeable currently without edting or mods.  And they have a pvp use too.

Or you can use those fire blocks that get crafted into chainmail.  Not able to make those either, and folks could craft them into chain armor if they so wish.

for some reason, my minecraft folder thinks it's SUPAH SPESHUL and crashes like a three-year-old on a sugar high.

Now it's started doing it even when I have no mods installed.

EDIT OF FAIL: Just put the Modloader and Millienare mod on. Minecraft threw a fit and whitescreened.

While playing Minecraft, my laptop sometimes decides to slow down horribly and won't recover until I reboot. Both CPU's start to work at almost 100% according to the Task Manager.  When I close Minecraft, both CPU's get stuck at exactly 100% and my laptop runs even slower.  None of the processes listed in the Task Manager show a high CPU usage, and ending them doesn't have any effect at all.
I tried any combination of mods, even vanilla, and the issue happens sooner or later.  It seems to take longer before it happens when I haven't tried for a while.

I experience a similar type of crash sometimes when I run Second Life while playing flash games.
On another two occasions my laptop booted with the same symptoms, but this seemed related to the power supply.

So I'm guessing from the above that the issue could be related to my hardware, but how can I be sure?

You could use glowstone dust. Since traveling to the Nether in multiplayer is still impossible, any thing from the nether ought work fine as currency.

Small update on my water power plant, still small but can power my miners well enough. I should be able to get enough iron to make several more levels of it before I need to use HV lines.
at the center of the crosses there are MFEs of course.


by the way, does anyone know a free ID#? I'd like to install plane mod too, but I am not sure where I can move my solar generator ID.

So the water mill blocks generate power from water flowing nearby, not just water source blocks?

yes, they can use running water too. which leaves some holes in the 3x3x3 shell, but makes engineering muuuch easier. whenever I want, I can close the source, dry the chamber, do whatever work I need, and then open it again.

reading poca's experiments, I think I am going to double the space between the rows. sure, I get to build less. but considering that it probably generates more energy than I will ever need anyway, and that I have an iron shortage... I think it is better to go for iron efficency rather than space efficency.

I got IC installed by remembering that the items in the "minecraft" folder do not in fact go in the root of the Jar. My memory isn't that great but I think I might have done that last time, too.

That's what I did last time I used it:  Opened the minecraft folder in IC, opened the minecraft.jar and copied all the files from the IC minecraft folder into the jar.
