I have been going fairly sucessfully not digging in a 'Dwarf Fortress' Seed world.  I built a somewhat tall wooden tower and was building a skyway to a tall mountain in the horizon to actually start mining.

I used my bed like I always have been, no lighting since I don't have any stone for a furnace to make coal.  Seemed to be no downsides.

And then one night I woke up in the middle of the night surrounded by 2 skeletons next to my bed shooting arrows at me.  It went badly.  Sleeping without torches can be dangerous.

My cavern is massive. Ridiculously massive. I had to stop exploring to go back and drop everything I had and because I was afraid I might get lost. My next adventure will include 30 signs to mark all the forks it has.

I think It has connected every cavern in the game to each other.

Is there a way to find out what seed your map has?

Created a large arrow turret on top of my spire because dispensors won't shoot tnt.
Worst of all, repeaters won't actualy work for me and I can't get a repeating fire effect.

So, I'd like to install a couple graphical mods.  Namely, BetterGrass and WildGrass, but they both rely on altering the minecraft.jar file itself.  And I don't know how to do that.  I understand I have to open up the jar file and add classes and such, but I don't know a good Java Editor.

Open the .jar file with 7zip or a similar archiver, delete the META_INF folder, and pop the files in.

Alternatively, get a mod manager from the Minecraft forums.

Okay, I tried that method, of opening minecraft.jar with WinRAR and dragging the files in.  Minecraft inoperable.  Tried it without BetterGrass since it hasn't been updated in a while.  Minecraft inoperable.  Tried it with the META_INF folder present and not present.  Minecraft inoperable.

So yeah, something wrong here.

I'd bet those grass mods are incompatible then.

Yeah, it's probably because of the new version, it cost me my awesome mix of Betterlight/bettergrass and misa's texture pack, plus wildgrass, it looked insanely awesome

Generated a world with my username as seed. Spawned by a bunch of islands, with shrooms and sugar, and lots of overhangs by the water. And squids! I think I'll make that my new world :3
