That [Magma] is a bit deep down there, don't you think?
You really aren't thinking like a dwarf.

If you think it is down too far, you move it up until it reaches an acceptable elevation.

How do I use the version before the Halloween update? Is it possible?

As it turns out, the pen was in fact a poor choice for melee combat in comparison to the sword.
So I just started playing this game and I accidentally nuked the moon.

If you don't update, yes. Play offline.

As far as I know, no it isn't possible unless you can find someone with an old version.

Faith rune?
Looks like Runecraft is back, and with a new rune too.

Is it just me, or do deserts generate in the most awkward locations?

That reminds me of the desert/caynon you end up flooding in Dragon Quest VIII.

Still, it's best that the worldgen doesn't become completely realistic. That wouldn't be much fun at all.

The source of the light doesn't matter, just the level.

Deserts certainly are rather silly.

Also, how hard is it to mod minecraft? I hear the people on jaycraft server really want a recipe for double stair blocks...

The source of the light doesn't matter, just the level.
Though I would imagine that a forest fire would make it unpleasant for any mobs who did happen to spawn.
